Official 2018 NBA Offseason Thread: the preseason cometh

I say it every time but I still can't believe PJ Tucker was the one kid out of Wake County at that time to have the long NBA career.

Simmons has been the primarily ball handler for the Sixers. He’s gotten into the paint fairly easily several times so far

JJ is one of the worst defenders in the NBA. He and Bayless are totally useless on D.

He can get anywhere he wants at any time. The problem is he can't shoot at all.

A few thoughts on my way back from the game:

Simmons is legit
Fultz is not
Wizards games are fucking boring compared to Sixers games
If Embiid played 30 tonight the Sixers win by 10
John Wall is a goddamn delight--we're lucky to watch him play
Kelly Oubre might be good

We didn't recruit him from the beginning, instead we went after Harvey Hale.

Harvey Hale who once locked down OJ Mayo in high school.

fultz was fine tonight - 5-9 in 18 minutes.

But I don't buy the shooting change occurred because of a shoulder injury. I think he tried to tweak his FT shot since his % was low in college, and it torpedoed his form. I'm not sure what to do about it now...I'd almost rather he not shoot a ball for a month so it doesn't get any more ingrained as a bad habit. He can get in the lane, he finished in the lane well, and I have to imagine the reversion of the shot back to what it was will come in time, so I'm not overly concerned about his long term projection, but I don't know how consistent his contributions will be this year until that's fixed (considering he's also a negative on the defensive end).

I think I'd get League Pass if there was an NBA version of Red Zone.

The question marks to me are also what do Bayless, Fultz, and McConnell add when Simmons runs the show. Presumably Bayless is a perimeter threat but the other two aren't and they aren't otherwise spreading the floor so I don't really know their value. Fultz creates pretty well no matter how much he's involved in the half court but if he's not gonna at least show a midrange, the paint is gonna be mighty crowded when his defender continues to sag off.

If Okafor or Richaun plays instead of Amir or Stauskas/Justin Anderson plays for TLC tonight I like our chances to win this game going forward. This Sixers team won't consistently beat Boston or Cleveland or Toronto but I'm not sure there are many other Eastern teams that are significantly better.

Disappointed that Thibs went with Tyus Jones over Teague down the stretch. But he was -19. KAT was the only started who wasn't negative. The T-Wolves have some work to do but they'll be pretty good.

The Spurs look pretty good. LMA was a good #1 option without Kawhi. Kyle Anderson played well at SF. Rudy Gay is going to be a great addition. Dejounte Murray had 16 pts on 7-8 fg.

Kory, you and Ayo have something in common.

That Twolves roster would be awesome in a more diluted Western Conference.

I was not clear on why Teague did not play much/at all?? In the 4th either.
