Wake NC State 7:30 PM ESPNU Night Game!

Remember when NC State blamed the Ohio State loss on the ACC for scheduling a football game the week before they played Ohio State and preventing them from ascending to the pinnacle of the college football world ? I remember that.

Doesn't matter - had a parade...

I know it's been about 15 years, but didn't State's Gator Bowl win come against an unmotivated ND team that had national championship aspirations at the beginning of the season? If I remember correctly, I think their starting QB was also hurt

How about your kicking/special teams? State punter is great and Hines gets his on returns when he can go but the rest is a weakness.

If NCSU attempts another FG all season I may not have a TV anymore.

Kicker and punter are good. Coverage is spotty. Return game is much weaker without Dortch.

This is the most important game for Wake in a long time. We are getting lots of positive press and have beaten a couple of pretty good teams. Played ND close. We are bowl eligible. Just hope the players are not reading the press and focusing on playing their best ball Saturday. Beating a ranked team would be a real feather in their cap. Would set up an opportunity for a really great season with a win against Duke. Often in the past when presented with an opportunity like this Wake has laid a big fat egg. Lets take it to State and get a big win at home! Go Deacs

Well said, Bud. Big opportunities for the team and Wake's program but we must execute and bring them to pass. So much depends on the team's mental state. Let's hope they realize that.

Any injury updates on Bates, Duke, Carney, Byrd? Obviously, Bates is huge going up against Finley, Samuels and Hines. Would be nice to have Carney as a battering ram against State's front 7 as a compliment to Colburn - thinking similar to Kevin Harris in 06 and 08.

Clawson's presser is today. He typically updates the injury situation.

I would be a lot more worried about let downs and being not focused as much as we should going into the Duke game if we beat State. I think our guys will be focused and ready Saturday night. A 12:30 start the Saturday after Thanksgiving against a struggling Duke team that is still capable of beating us could be a trap game if we're not ready. If Duke beats Tech (not likely) they're playing to go to a bowl and even if they loss to Tech, they still might be playing to go to a bowl as they would be very high on the list of 5-7 teams is there are not enough 6-6 teams to fill the slots.

What concerns me most against State is State is legit good and we have key injuries to overcome. Having the bighead or not being focused on going to battle with the Pack won't be an issue I think.

This may be a #hottake, but I think State has the best skill players we've faced all year, and maybe by a significant margin. Hines and Samuels are studs that can be used all over the field, and they have 2-3 solid, big WRs with good ball skills. I wish Finley would have saved his bad game for us instead of BC, but hopefully we can pressure him early and shake him up. Otherwise, we're going to have to win another track meet.

Should be an awesome game - looking forward to it! Hines was at full speed last week after missing time @ ND and not having the burst against Clemson which will be huge for us. Everyone stay healthy and then beat the blues next weekend.

I would bet a lot of money on the over 62 that is currently out there.

I think the first to 40 wins this one.

Henderson played hurt vs SU ( burned the red-shirt of frosh Davis ) and Rodney still not 100%.

Beyond the big OG who went down vs BC, do we know of any other State starters injured/out for Sat ?

Agree that Samuels is unlike anyone we've seen, and that Hines is very good. Finley might be the best pocket qb we've faced. If we have Bates for this game, I'll be somewhat optimistic. Having both him and Duke able to play would be incredible. I know their d-line is awesome, but I really like our run/pass option scheme against them. Especially because I'm not impressed with their secondary.

Coby Davis burned his shirt against Presbyterian. He's played a total of 213 snaps, and has appeared in every game this year. He did play a season high with 61 snaps against Syracuse, as did Ja'Sir Taylor with 57
