No idea what the add-on is, but the clause does exist. But it is part of the 10 million that has been quoted as his price. Just don't know how much of that 10 mil was "guaranteed" and how much was incentive based.
 
Small price to pay for the progress Smalling has made in just a year. Dude can flat out play. 10 million starting to look like a bargain for him.

It'd obviously be nice to still have Smalling, but now it seems the Smalling deal has basically paid for the Bryan Ruiz deal. If Ruiz is as productive as we all hope, I'm happy.
