KP Breakdown of the Liberty Universtiy Flames ("LU", "JFU", "Homophobe U",

I still think we pull it together and go like 8-4 OOC just because our OOC schedule is such a joke. But conference play will be ugly.
We’ll be someone’s “bad loss” on Selection Sunday

This team is much more talented that the shitty teams BZ coached. Manning should walk away for the good of the game. He has no business as a head coach in any league.

It has been evident for 4 years. There are no excuses left.
Nathan Hatch’s PC hire.

With the way that we are playing now, I see 3 wins for us in conference.

Plus-minus numbers:

Chaundee +12
Doral +8
Thompson +1
Everyone is negative
Wilbekin -18
Childress -14
Sarr -15 in only 9 minutes

Other crazy stat. In those 9 minutes, Sarr played in 7 different lineups.

Chill & Wilby a combined -15 when on the court at the same time. These two can never be on the floor together unless its an EOG protect the lead scenario (which apparently wont be a recurring issue to worry about). Think they were -20 without Brown or TT to help rebound presumably.

Our starting 5 was +8 so obviously they need to play 40 mins each. ;-)

I wouldn't put to much faith in those +/- numbers, since as a team we only add up to minus 45. It would seem there's an additional minus twenty floating around somewhere.

You missed the "everyone [else] is negative." That would include Craw( -5), D.Mitch (-6), Sunday(-2) and Woods (-6). There is the additional -19 to make the team -45.

Anybody know why Sam didn't play even a minute?

Manning needs to get counseling from BzDick since BzDick was familiar with losing to no-name opponents.

yeah, the team according to that site is -45; however we lost by 13

13 * 5 = 65 so the team should total -65

One of our guards probably broke the counting machine with one of those horrible errant passes.

Point stands, and it doesn't take no +/- to figure this shit out. You CANNOT play 4 guards at one time when two of them are the same damn player essentially. Wilby is a better shooter -- if he can even get open -- and Chill is usually the better driver and disher. No point in having these smallish guards on the court at the same time.

Chaundee played 30 mins last night and gets 6 shots??? Danny needs to remedy that. The sooner this becomes Chaundee's team, the better. Craw needs to focus on controlling the game and distributing like he's capable of. He's not going to make the NBA as a hybrid who is trying to play off the ball and beat guys with hero ball. We are a better team when BC is running the show and being a bit more discerning with his shot. 5 assists in 2 games against these opponents?? Come on now.

And my goodness, you telling me that Melo Eggleston can't play better defense than Wilbekin when key guys need a blow? Learn how to implement a 3-2 zone Danny!! Jaysus.

Minor things that made me happy during last night's game:

Moore not getting called for a charge when his man flopped... Instead, he turned around and made an easy layup with the guy on the ground. Also finished lobs and rebounded. The follow dunk in traffic after his missed FT was fun, too.

Seeing Sarr at the scorer's table, ready to check in for the first time.

Seeing Sunday on the floor and thinking he might be worth something in a few years.

Brown giving a shit. And hitting a nice 3 from the top of the key when we needed a basket.

Crawford getting a steal and taking it all of the way to the basket for a layup.

Key's pretty pull-up midrange game... He forces some long ones, and sometimes gets too far under the basket, but that midrange J is nice.

Unfortunately, that's about it. Just trying to be positive about a few things.

You can't polish last night's turd, but kudos for trying.

Just curious, what about the last two games makes you think this?

We'd have to win at least 2 out of games against Illinois, Richmond, Charlotte and Tennessee depending on what we do in the Not In Paradise Jam. Nothing we've seen so far would make me think that is remotely possible.

I agree there is also a major leadership void and right now no one is stepping into it. Bryant would seem to be the natural leader, but one has to wonder if all the BC to pros after this year is affecting him as a leader and the other players as well. Let's face it if you come into the season communicating to the coach you are out after the season it has to impact your relationship with others and what your commitment is to the team as it must come across as just about getting to the league and not concerned with others. Might be understandable if a CP3 type talent where you are guaranteed lottery, but I don't think I have ever heard of a case where a POSSIBLE 2nd rounder makes his intentions known he is bolting after a season. Granted I'm relying on a # of others when discussing our scholly situation so who knows if really true as well as maybe reading too much into it, but one thing is for sure - BC better step up or any dreams of NBA will go up in smoke.

I mean, I've been told I'm one of the most negative posters re: Wake sports on here many times. As bad as we've looked, the first loss we were leading the vast majority of the game and lost by 2. Last night, we were down 5 like halfway through the 2nd half. Both of those games could've had different outcomes. That's way more a function of the competition than us being even decent. Richmond is 0-2 with home losses to Delaware (by 13) and Jacksonville State (by 33). Charlotte is #203 on KP, Coastal Carolina is #205. Illinois (blah) and Tennessee (who is obviously good) we both get at home. We suck, but the non-conf schedule is just so easy 2 (or maybe 3) more losses in the non-conf feels about right to me. Conference play feels like 3-15 or 4-14 at the moment, though.

My starting five would be Moore (or Okeke), Thompson, Chaundee, Crawford and Keyshawn. First big man off bench is Okeke (Sarr is just not ready yet) and for the guards it would be Childress. Play these guys (plus Sarr and Melo) until they drop. Wilbekin should only come in due to foul trouble or injury, leave Donovan, Washington and SJM on the bench until the games are decided or in an emergency situation
