Official 2017 College football thread

This is odd. The ABC primetime game is Pac12 (UCLA v USA). And the Fox primetime game is Pac12 (Cal v Stanford). The band is on the field!!!!!!!

Not necessarily. I was watching the Kick 6 highlight yesterday and it reminded me Auburn won the week prior on a miracle TD pass against Georgia.

There was a bye week between the UGA and Alabama games in 2013.

Good info. So Auburn and Bama have had a bye or a gimme game before the Iron Bowl for 10+ years.

Funniest thing yesterday apart from Baker Mayfield's nut grab was this from the OU-KU game

UNC sucks like a hoover, and a season-finale win over State won't change that. But, that will help our bowl prospects - so I'm hoping Moo U gets upset.

ACC win totals per South Point in the desert:
BC-4, Clemson, 9.5, Duke 4.5, FSU 9.5, GT 6, Louisville 9.5, Miami 9, NC State 6.5, UNC 7, Pitt 6.5, Syracuse 4, UVa 5.5, VT 8.5, Wake 5.5
App St 9.5, Utah St 4.5, Notre Dame 7.5

I will say take the over on Wake with a 7-5 regular season--wins over Presby, BC, Utah St, App St, Notre Dame, Syracuse & Duke [and don't be surprised if we see a victory over Louisville or GT mixed in here with a loss at 'Cuse]. One key is to not go into South Bend scared of a 4-8 team that lost to Duke at home last year!

Hopefully 8 wins!

Who doesn't relish seeing the cup of Wolfpuppy/pecker hopes dashed from their lips. Once again. It's almost too sweet to imagine, even if it comes at the hands of the hated holes (who gain nothing by winning except some measure of solace).

What happens if Alabama loses a close one at Auburn and doesn't even play in the SECCG? SEC Champion obviously moves on to the 4, but is there a possibility or likelihood 11-1 Alabama gets left out? If not, probably pushes the loser of the ACCCG out unless it's a close, instant classic-type game. Alabama probably gets pushed out if that happens.

Also, not really feeling all that confident ND wins at Stanford, which probably moves them down to ACC bowl tie-ins. If ND pulls it off though, I'd be very surprised if they don't make it to one of the New Year's six games.

Loser of ACCCG is out regardless unless some other teams lose. A 1 loss Bama would be most likely to jump a 1 loss OU. They would certainly be ahead of a 1 loss Miami unless they were just obliterated by Auburn. Same with a 1 loss Wiscy. So assuming a Bama loss to Auburn on in the SECCG, and everybody else winning out, you'd have a top 5 of UM/Clem winner, SEC champ, Wiscy, OU, and Bama. Wiscy would be unbeaten and in for sure. It would be a tossup for those final 3 spots. A 2 loss Auburn would really fuck over somebody. A 1 loss Georgia less so. I think to stave off controversy, Bama, in spite of being a clear top 4 team, might be left out of the equation because you'd have either an unbeaten UM or the defending champ in Clemson, so one of those is also in. And OU even with their shitty D has Mayfield carrying the entire team and his big nuts to boot. Bama passes the eye test better than OU, so that's why I think OU would be in danger, but the rest of the CFB world would shit a brick and talk about ESPN conspiracies if they got in 2 SEC teams.

Lots of football left to be played though. If Wiscy loses to tOSU, that single loss opens up a lot of doors.

Bama currently has two wins vs the top 25 and both are below 15. An LSU loss this weekend might leave them with a win vs Mississippi State to make their claim for a playoff spot. I’m not sure where that would leave them but I wouldn’t say they are safely in.

They do have the Bama name going for them.

Wake Forest now #2 in the country ATS @ 8-2-1.

Only team better is Iowa State (9-1-1).

Probably the two least memorable P5 schools.
