Omnibus Bowl Projections Thread - Belk Bowl

Would think the Belk bowl would also stay away from fsu if Jimbo is leaving. Fans would definitely not make the trip after being pissed about the season and now losing their coach

2 of the Wake Forest projections have Notre Dame in Citrus (Would mean a Big 10 team in Orange Bowl. Basically even if OSU wins, Alabama goes to playoff) I agree here, I think. If ND is out of the ACC bowls, Wake should be favorite for Belk.

2 have Notre Dame in Camping World (ACC Bowl), which really muddies the picture. Not sure if Belk sticks with Wake there, sending NC State to Jax or Pinstripe.

The FSU projection has Notre Dame in Camping World.

I think to really feel good about Belk, Wake Fans should be rooting for Wisconsin to lose to OSU, and OSU stays out of the playoff in favor of Bama. That sends OSU to Orange, and likely ND to Citrus (instead of an ACC bowl) However, I don't think we are out of the Belk if ND plays in ACC bowl. It just knocks 1 ACC team out of tier 1 bowls, which could be wake.

It definitely could be Wake but I think Wake has a stronger argument for the Belk Bowl than BC does for any of the Tier 1 bowls.

If Wake doesn't get chosen, a potential Florida State vs Texas A&M matchup would be super awkward. #winnergetsJimbo

Or El Paso. That's where Giglio seems to think they're going

oh right. I keep thinking the Sun Bowl isn't tier one based on the feelings of going to El Paso from Wake fans, but it is.

Brett McMurphy has weighed in with his bowl projections. In his article he says specifically that he has spent the past week talking to sources.

Highlights: ND into the NY6. No ACC team in the Citrus Bowl. Wake in the Belk Bowl. Liberty is the bowl that doesn’t get an SEC team (and fills its spot with Memphis). Mizzou heads east to play the Deacs.

Here is the full ACC lineup:

CFP – Clemson
Orange – Miami
NY6 – Notre Dame
Camping World – Virginia Tech (McMurphy says this is set, unless ND falls past the NY6 and Citrus)
Taxslayer – Louisville
Sun – NC State
Belk – Wake Forest (against Mizzou)
Pinstripe – Boston College
Military – Virginia
Independence – Florida St (in a fun matchup with FAU, which others are starting to predict)
Quick Lane - Duke

Missouri can put up some points. This game may take 4.5 hours.

We'd be double digit underdogs to Mizzou.

Sagarin has winning by 4 on a neutral field. I think we'd be -5 or -6 in Charlotte.

In football? We're higher than them in Sagarin, and by a good bit -- 30 to 46. Think it's more likely we're favored than double-digit dogs.

Where ND stands tonight will be interesting, especially vis-a-vis TCU. If they're ahead of them now then I think good chance they'll be NY6 bound (barring TCU upsetting Okla)

Interesting that Stewart Mandel's predictions this morning also had Mizzou in the Belk Bowl.

We beat out Mizzou for Arkeem Byrd. They got their revenge by flipping our QB commit last cycle.

I bet tosu gets in the playoff if they win the BIG.

What's the over/under on number of Wake fans who will travel to El Paso? A dozen?

The cheapest flights I could find Dec. 28-30th out of Charlotte or NYC were ~$700
