Judge Moore accused of sexually assaulting/pursuing underage girls in his 30s

Draws conclusions on ongoing investigations while refusing to accept the results of completed investigations. No partisan bias here.

If a dem can win in Alabama, the lessons are clear:

1. opposition research will play a big role in the next few campaigns

2. all over America Fusion GPS style garage startups are ... well ... starting up

3. There are no doubt plenty of sexual harassment skeletons in plenty of closets and there is plenty of money to be made by exposing them.

4. Inquiring minded voters will want to know.

5. There are no rules in this type of politics. The new rules have yet to be written, if they ever will be. The old boys club rules of boys will be boys are - for the moment - dead.

6. Things will get uglier, a lot uglier, before they get better.

7. Who knows, who will be the next one struck down. Fear and loathing in Washington and other high places with low morals.

8. Say what you want about the deplorable rubes in Alabama but when push came to shove, they did the right thing. Weirdo cradle robbers like Roy Moore, whether they thump the Bible or not, whether they are attacked by the usual suspects or not, simply don't belong in the U.S. Senate.

9. Just because you are a loyal churchman, you don't get a pass on personal morals. The Franken affair seemed to show that perhaps just because you are a reliable, albeit legislatively incompetent, leftist horse's ass, you don't get a pass on regularly being a horse's ass to women.

10. Jones will get a one year shot to firm up his support in Alabama. If he follows the dem leadership, we'll see you around pal.

Well looks like a defense of sexual harassment is the new political tool, better watch out Dems.

I agree with palma. Bannon and his ilk have an easy out. It will be interesting to see the new narrative in the morning. sailor may give us a preview when he wakes up in a few hours.

I say we respect Moonz' desire to move on by printing out district election maps of Alabama and mail them to the White House.

lol, centrists were going to spin this election result no matter who won. Those dipshits used the trash Ossoff campaign consulting firm, Mothership Strategies, outspent Roy Moores campaign ×4, and still only defeated the bigoted pedophile by 1% because black voters saved their ass and came out big.

forget who it was this AM but a guy in Alabama said the sexual assault allegations didn't really play a role after all.

not sure what your criticism is other than poor spending but the fact that Moore could spend very little and do basically no actual campaigning means an opponent is going to have to spend money to win.

reality derangement syndrome

forget who it was this AM but a guy in Alabama said the sexual assault allegations didn't really play a role after all.

They had a chart on Morning Joe that showed a vast majority of anti-Moore voters made their mind up before the allegations.

It was a close election though. Saying the allegations didn't play a role at all feels dishonest. They probably moved more points than Shelby saying to write-in, which ended up as 2% of the total.

this is all the fault of the monolithic black vote. hard to win elections when you have one segment of the population mindlessly voting for the D.

I think ultimately the allegations probably suppressed rube turnout just enough.

The rubes didn’t “come through”. The rubes voted for this cat bigly or sat at home. They don’t get one fucking ounce of credit. Fuck those dipshit rubes. Black folks, specifically black women came through via their turnout to vote. And they didn’t just happen to turnout. Black folks worked their asses off to get out the vote. I love that the work of black women beat this bigoted sexist campaign despite the ignorant ass rubes and olds.

I am annoyed with how easily black people are turned into a monolith by Democrats

One consistent trend is that in high-turnout elections, democrats win. Its the reason that 'pubs jumped on the voter-id train after the 2008 election. Voter suppression, via bullshit laws or causing disillusionment in the electorate, is really the 'pubs best hope. And, as 2016 showed, it is a pretty good plan.

I am uncomfortable with how easily black people are turned into a monolith by Democrats

I think that’s a reasonable concern, but it robs black folks of their own agency. This was a candidate known for prosecuting the kkk against a candidate who literally said America was better under slavery. The GOP made literally zero outreach to minority communities in this race.

Jones ran a great campaign by not letting the narrative switch from how unfit Moore was to serve. Basically the opposite of what HRC did. You can’t debate policy with the alt-right candidates because rubes don’t care about policy. They’ll vote to make their lives worse if it means not killing babies and keeping the gays from marrying.

That’s where battles will be won in 2018. Put up eminently qualified candidates like Jones and then expose the crazy for what it is. Guys, a libtard Dimocrat just won the AL senate seat. We fucking did it.
