DF2009, were you at TDs for the game and them go to Solly's after? I think I was talking to your friends outside the bar and I think you followed us as we walked to Vinoteca and you went to Solly's. I wanted to introduce myself but I wasn't sure if it was you.

Manchester United make me so happy. What a club. What a side. What a manager leading it all.

Haha, last time I heard from him I think he was wasted, so you may not get an answer until tomorrow afternoon.

Fun day today. I feel like shit now though w/ all teh sun/lack of water. Time to sleep until 1 and then watch teh Panthers game if I can remember to get up.

IF YOU CANT GO TO COLLEGE GO TO STATE

I leper like a baby last night. So, so tired. It was quite an eventfulday. DHD had a great bitch off with a NCSU fan at the tailgate, baby squirrel appeared, plus the WFU win.

Cookout, lemme know next time if you need some water. I had a Orange Gott cooler in the back of my truck that people were getting water out of.

Chat thread runners - how did the Blue Ridge Relay go?

same post from the Running Thread

BRR Summary

Friday 8 am we left Charlotte to meet the first van at exchange 6, ate some Taco Bell once we got up there (flirting with disaster). Met the other van and the other runners on the team (i only knew 2 others of our 10 total runners). Other team left Charlotte at 4 am.

First leg (number 9), late afternoon, hot, sunny, but a flat 5+ miler. Only trouble was a little hill at the end but nothing compared to the hills seen on the other legs. Runner 10 was our last runner, then we drove off towards the next major exchange. Before then we stopped for dinner at a China Buffett (flirting with disaster again). Got to our exchange with about 2+ hours to relax so we just chilled.

Night legs started and I was amped up. however, 2 legs before my second run we got the van stuck in a ditch so me and another runner hitched rides to the next 2 exchanges so we could keep the relay going. Ran leg 19, a net downhill, very gradual though, 4.4 miler in the dark which was an awesome sight seeing everyone in their reflective vests, headlamps, blinkys, etc. Was happy to see our captain at the exchange which meant the van was on its way and out of the ditch.

After this we headed to the next major transition and parked away in a corner so we could try and sleep. I may have slept an hour or 10 minutes, really couldn't tell. then i'd just doze but vans and runners outside kept me half awake. Barely got our legs started in time between waking up and getting ready. My last leg (29) was going to start abouyt 6 am. it was dark, cold, and i was tired. just about rock bottom is the best way to describe it. My buddy told me i'd be fine once i got going and suggested some ibuprofen. Started the leg in thick fog but half a mile up a small hill i was already feeling better. what a change from just a few minutes prior. enjoyed my last leg although my legs did not want to go as fast as my head wanted them to go.

finished my leg and we waited for our runner at the start of the mountain goat leg (31). here we ate pancakes and most of us enjoyed being done. then we headed up the legs stopping to cheer the runners in the other van until we finished it up in asheville.

after some picture taking and showers at the Y, we headed to Fuddruckers and destroyed a late lunch/early dinner. it was awesome to meet some new runners who i could see myself running this race with again in the future. also, loved meeting other runners out there and just having a blast running, driving, hanging out in the van.

Oh man....excellent day yesterday. Deacs win for my birthday, nice dinner with my fam, got a fresh new suit to slay some interviews in, went out with friends, laid the groundwork for future encounters a hot boy, and crashed at 5am.

24 shaping up to be a good year - it can only go up from this past shitty no good terrible year.

Chat thread runners - how did the Blue Ridge Relay go?

Here's mine:

Had a great time even though I didn't run, I did most of the driving for van 1. As Mike mentioned, we were driving through West Jefferson late Thursday night minding our business when A WILD COP APPEARS! Actually, the speed limit slowed drastically and I got caught doing 49 in a 35 or something like that. We freaked out when 2 other cop cars joined him...Oh, and I didn't have my license on me because I had left it in our photocopier when I needed a copy for the rental van. So the cop comes back, gives me a written warning and tells me that it's got my license info on it, just in case I need it later on.

So, fast forward to Mike's first leg, and we park the van in downtown West Jeff to cheer him on, when out of nowhere we spot a cop walking around on the street (is it? could it be? IT IS!!!!). Same guy. He asks "Didn't I see you about 18 hours ago"? I say "Yes, like it was yesterday!" We chatted with him, almost took a picture, but had to get back in the van once Mike passed so we could pick him up.

Anyway, the BRR was incredible. We had a really good group of runners, Mrs I/O ran like a total bauce, and we didn't ditch any vans or get in any wrecks. Also, we camped out at the state park on Thursday night before the race started, so it was only about 1 minute to the start. I would definitely recommend it.

Enjoyed eating at Canyons in Blowing Rock after Van 1 finished its first leg, and it was pretty funny hanging out in Tanger where all the vans were parked and having the regular shoppers give us strange looks and asking funny questions...it looked like Woodstock out there.

Also, Van 1 is the bee's knees. You get to start first and finish first and enjoy beers at Mellow Mushroom while Van 2 is still out there running.

Was he already drunk by that point? AND did he have pimp cup in hand during said incident? Both would make the story way better!

Yesterday was awesome! I was the most sloppy. Busted lip/chin, bruised both my legs somehow, and spilled a deacon dog with chili and cheese all over my shorts. But it was totally worth it

Yeah I discovered that right before we went into the game. Thanks for holding onto mah cornhole boards for me too btw. That was not a fun walk from the Joel w/ them.

It was great seeing everyone out there. Love to start off tailgating season with a game like that, amirite?

, and how did I miss the DHD state fan bitching incident!?
