Yeah. I don't think people understand how good we should be next year. Objective analysts are going to look at who we have returning and be like, "Man, they should be good."

I guess I worry about losing both starting DE's off a defense that was very average. Jaboree may have not been a Marquel Lee or Chubb, but was a great leader, and made some plays. Those three spots will be tough to fill, but I think we can do it with the recruits we have.

John was so good this year knowing where he was going with the ball, and being very accurate. It's hard to see a QB with Hinton's running ability make the quick reads like John did, when running is always an option. I think the offense looks different next year, with a lot more runs, setting up play action deep balls, rather than the quick passing game.

All that to say, I do think Hinton will be successful because of the experience and competition. But his success will look different than John's.

This. Different but effective. As always the key is the OL. When it matured and meshed all aspects of the offense improved. That does not discount the individual improvement shown by the skill players, but without the OL stepping up this years offense doesn't set records. I do believe there will be a transition period between the new QB and the OL because of the difference, but nothing that will diminish the potential to be productive.

This is where I am. The defense was not great and we lose two of the studs we did have. I worry that we won't have guys to step up and replace them, but at the same time it shouldn't be that hard to improve on the overall team defense.

Boogie Basham is legit. I hope to see more from Mike Allen, but I’m cautiously optimistic. I think our DL strength goes from outside to inside next year.
 
No way the Panthers draft Kirk. He's the same size as Samuel and does most of the same things. Probably a little better as a wideout.
 
You're assuming a new GM and new ownership is going to be loyal to last year's draft picks.

No, I assume he's not going to duplicate players. Probably won't take a stud middle linebacker in the first round either.

LOL. First, we duplicated players in the same draft by taking Samuel. Second, Hurney did draft a stud MLB in the 1st round (Kuechley) to replace a 3 time Pro Bowl MLB (Beason).

But 2 punts blocked (although I think the slow get-off times had a lot to do with it) is really bad. You should lose games where you have 2 punts blocked, especially one for a touchdown. Maggio is taking 3 steps and 2.1 seconds. In a rush situation, which he should be able to identify, he has got to be quicker.

Add the blocked extra point vs NCSU that looked like it would really hurt. (but thanks for the NCSU fumble/touch back) and several other attempts that looked very 'close')

Wonder how many tuned out after our quick 0-14 start. I was at the game and have watched the 1st qtr on tape now. ESPN seemed to quickly go to Jimbo F. for commentary and practically ignored the play-by-play during that period. If I had been watching live I'd have wondered 'what's going on'?

It would have been fine if they asked Jimbo to share insights on both teams as a way to enhance the commentary. Instead, they just ignored the game.

There were 107 points scored and 1,260 yards of offense. This was the summer blockbuster movie of the bowl season. All that was missing was a fight scene between The Rock and Jason Statham and a few explosions. It was great. Can't wait for the sequel. (29)

Word. Wouldn't mind using this as a reason to get a H&H with A&M.
