Official 2017 College football thread

who did mighty Baylor play in their bowl game that year? how'd they do? how did blah as hell Wisconsin do against the mighty SEC in their bowl? what was OSU's qb situation against VT? How did they adjust after that game?

like I said, lol !

How did TCU do in their bowl, against a much better SEC team than Wisky played? They're the team that should've gotten the nod.

Congrats to Ohio State for "making adjustments." Losses don't get discounted for playing freshmen QB -- and clearly not a terrible one since he's still their starter

Syracuse lost out after beating Clemson. By far the worst loss of the playoff contenders.

No doubt Syracuse was a very bad loss for Clemson. But I think it was balanced out by the sheer number of good wins they had - including good road wins and a conference championship.

The road wins at VT and Louisville don't look as good now as they did at the time.

It's really tough to quantify just how good teams are in conferences that rarely play one another. That's why I think strikes against teams -- like losing by 31 to a team in the middle of its division -- are more clear-cut than positive resume elements

Not apples to apples at all. Bryant missed a half, Braxton Miller missed the whole season. Ohio State had to be judged on Barrett’s and Jones’ body of work, and it included a complete dud early in the season.

It also was a strong crop of teams in 2014. Not every year is the same

yeah, Bryant missed a half and Clemson trailed when he left the game

OSU replaced the two-time defending Big Ten MVP, struggled very early on against a very highly regarded defense, and then rolled all year, including dominating performances at MSU and on a neutral site against Wisconsin, two top-15 teams

the weakest playoff team in 2014 was actually the one undefeated team

Yeah, but they were always gonna get a spot. Also Bryant was severely hobbled the whole game.

Ohio State's performance post-VT was not enough for me to overcome the VT loss and best a TCU team with a strong resume itself. They at least got fortunate and got a natty out of it, which when combined with making it last year having not won their conference makes all the whining a little hard to take

I'm sorry it was not enough for you

And I'm sorry the Iowa loss wasn't enough for some to keep O$U out this year.

I guess the committee isn't doing a horrible job if all of us aren't happy always

Fuck him, he talked a ton of shit on John Lewis and ATL earlier in the year.

"Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to......mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results. All talk, talk, talk — no action or results. Sad!"

You'd think he'd want to stay away from such a horrible crime infested district. Also, Kendrick Lamar is the halftime act. That will be must watch TV if Trump is in the building ... so silver linings and all that.

Fucking stupid.

UGa claims the 1942 title where they lost to an unranked Auburn team and didn't top the AP poll (there were no other active polls at the time). You decided retroactively to award it to yourself. Claiming random ass titles on very thin basis is the most authentic thing any college football program can do.
