BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Charles Coleman de-commits to Wake. :(

The primary sign of a good leader is his ability to adapt to situations. Manning refuses to change even after the disaster that this season has become. He continues to use the same starting lineup and unreal substitution patterns.

99.9% of the coaches in college basketball start their best 5 players and play these 5 the majority of the minutes. Not this guy.

There is no way Chaundee Brown should put up with the way he has been treated this year. He maintained, or so it appeared, a good attitude and lead the team in the Boston College game. Then, in the next game against Va. Tech, Manning only gave him 19 minutes. Brown is our highest rated recruit in about 10 years and he is only getting an average of 19 minutes thru 18 games. The minutes he should be getting are going to the "small guard" ball that Manning promised would lead the team this year.

Last night, against State, Brown started both halves but only played a total of 7 minutes.

Brown's shooting percentage is equal to Childress and only slightly less than Wilbekins. His free throw percentage of 93%(13-14) is better. But, the main reason he should be getting more minutes than the two small guards is on defense. There is no way Childress and Wilbekin should ever be on the floor at the same time in the ACC.

I do not have the exact reference but Blogger So Dear had an article a few weeks back on the great job Brown was doing defensively. He deserves more time on the court.

26 post rule, please.

FWIW, 99.9% of coaches in college do NOT start their best 5 players. I'd guess the number was around 50%.

To put it in context, Pat Riley used to start Kurt Rambis at the 4 for the Lakers and they had Michael Cooper and Mitch Kupchak and a handful of other "better" players coming off the bench for years and years. Ditto for another okay coach in San Antonio, usually choosing to bring Manu Ginobili off the bench. Yes, that is the pros.

But I could probably name about 150 situations in the last year or two where college coaches bring a young top 5 player off the bench for any number of reasons: point production off the bench to simply starting experience over talent.

Anyway, your post is fairly laughable. There are a number of reasons to be frustrated with Coach Manning this year, and Chaundee's minutes would be one of them. Arguing for starting our best 5 players though is a bad rationale, and using faux math is not smart - 99.9% of the time anyway

He's much, much bigger than PJ Tuicker. 6'5, 220 vs. 6'9/260.

AGREED

but he's kinda got that below the rim bully game in the post mixed in with a soft J

i like the soft hands and touch

maybe trevor booker is a better comparison

This isn't adding up for me

bad grammar mixed in with math

said a better way

"your statement that 99.9%...is wrong. It's much closer to 50%"

Ok, name me 50 per cent of the college teams that do not start their best 5 players. Also, name me more than one college coach who does not play his best 5 players the majority of the minutes and has a substitution pattern close to Mannings.

My math is based on actual stats thru 18 games.

I’m solely wondering where the stats come from and a better understanding of what you’re referencing. I didn’t understand the original comment and wanted further background.

This is really a discussion? UVA is #2 in the country and they don't start De'Andre Hunter. But he's 4th in scoring and played 28 minutes against GaTech and over 20 in most of their ACC games. Louisville starts Malik Williams and he hasn't scored in double digits in a single game this year. Those are the top 2 teams in the ACC standings.

Bottom line, this discussion probably does not belong on a recruiting thread and end by by asking, does Coach K start his best 5 players?

I'll get right on that. I have forwarded your query to Pat Riley and Greg Popovich and both have agreed to help me. In fact, Popovich texted me specifically to say he's sure the number is less that 99.9% and that your fellow Wake fan is a real dumbshit. His words.

His mom has talked a lot about proximity to home. It will be a SC school. Probably Clemson since they are relevant this season for the first time in a long time.

Also cool to see the kids stay away from those powe house schools........ Harry on my mind.😑

you gotta be shitting me
