That’s a dangerous question for ManningOut people. Either they are shown to be unreasonable or they set a standard that they realize full well Danny may actually attain. I really hope that Crawford doesn’t do anything stupid and leave after 3 years. It would be so Wake Forest for us to lose a 3 year starter for him to go play in Israel, but I guess that is exactly what I should expect to happen.

Crawford stays, Moore stays (as they would for almost every other school out there), we bring in our class, and we will go to the tournament and most likely spend some time in the top 25.

Hedging starting early. You know we will have someone leave or get injured. Standards get lowered buying some more time.

Why the obsession with defensive rating?

If we are a 4 seed, make the sweet 16, are top 25 KP, but 100 in defense then we didn’t meet expectations?

Just don't think you can consistently win in March without competent defense. A defensive rating in the 70's is pretty bad so I am not asking for defensive greatness. Just competence.

It sucks to suck.

It's going to be a tough road to hoe for DM to get us from ACC cellar to some sort of respectability next season.

Regardless the new AD needs to make the next hire.

I’m not hedging. We should make the tournament next year. With or without those two. I can’t see why either would leave but some posters have stated that very could happen with Crawford.

If we have those two we will obviously be much better and thus I hope they stay.

For all the talk of players leaving early, we know one secret to coaching success is to get pro prospects to stay an extra year.

Not thrilled if we lose Crawford, but I'm not sure why anyone would panic about it.

Chilldress and Crawford are both shooting exactly .394 from the field. Per 40 minutes Chill is down 6 points to Craw but turns it over less. Slightly better rebounder, slightly worse on assists. Chill's shooting it better from deep and Crawford is better from the line. Chill's offensive rating is a touch lower but his defensive rating is higher. And this is over the course of the entire year - Brandon's recent numbers as a starter have been better.

If we were an NBA team we'd trade Crawford for a starting 4 tomorrow.

Silly question here. You all realize that Mucius is rated about where Moore was out of HS, right? And Manning doesn’t like to play freshmen.

Or you could say Mucius is ranked about where Crawford was and he led the team in minutes his freshman year.

We don’t know how much playing time anyone will get next year. We don’t even know what the roster will look like.

I would rather have Danny continue indefinitely than give Wellman another opportunity to hire a basketball coach. He has more than abused and used up his basketball coach hiring privileges.

You can’t win in March without a compete offense either. The last Wake team to get past the first weekend was 102nd in Defense. The team that lost to Cleveland state was 22nd

Amen brother, preach!

True. Need competence on both sides of the ball.

Fair enough. For next year though, I don’t think Wake needs to have a top 70 defense in order to have a season that most on here would consider very successful. But the question was what would it take for you to change your mind about Manning and a top 70 defense and NCAAT round of 64 appearance seems reasonable.

Anyone else?

Have asked before with no answer. For the Manning sucks crew, what result next year convinces you that you’re wrong?

KP:
Overall:
ACC:
ACCT:
NCAAT:

For reference, to convince me I’m wrong about Manning he would have to fail to meet most of the benchmarks below next year:

KP: 40
Overall: 20 wins
ACC: 9 wins
ACCT: Friday appearance
NCAAT: Top 8 seed

Anyone else bitching about supposed “shifting goalposts” want to commit themselves?

If he gets...
KP 50
18 wins
8 ACC wins
ACCT 2nd day
and NCAA play-in

He will still be employed at WFU in the fall of 2019.

Something you ridicule most of the time when it's mentioned....ie for someone like Collins, yes? Go get your money!!!!!!!!

Anybody think Tom Crean would pick up the phone if Wake Forest called?

Or is he destined to go to the biggest job that opens up at the end of this season?

Just talking hypothetically... I'm in favor of at least one more Manning season.
