BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Charles Coleman de-commits to Wake. :(

Yeah, we've done so much better recruiting grad transfers this cycle with more time!

No, we sure haven't. That doesn't change the fact that Dinos left us scrambling, and that is what was being discussed.

Not an issue if the 2016 class isn't a complete dumpster fire. Simple.

You guys are missing the bigger point IMO. It DOESN'T MATTER whether Manning should have anticipated Collins and/or Dinos departing, to a coach considering whether or not to take the job after him, all they need to see is a coach penalized for developing Collins too quickly and losing him a year (or two) early. Whether that is fair or not is beside the point - the truth is that no coach is going to assume they can quickly set Wake up as a premier one-and-done school. So, if you are going to get penalized for turning a 3star recruit into a 1st round draft choice in 2 years, no thanks do not want. Stupid AD and stupid fanbase.

Also the staff should have know Dino was negotiating the contract. The timing was simply the time it took to come up with a deal.

To be fair, we don’t know for sure they didn’t know. Our interest in TT was mentioned before Dino left if I remember correctly.

Is this the start of a new revisionist theory?

In all fairness, Dinos told the staff he was coming back and a week later he signed a contract.

That's a fact, not an excuse.

Sure, at the micro-temporal scale the day or week that he made his decision was a surprise. But the staff knew this was highly probable for up to two years in advance and apparently failed to make plan until the day after it happened.

This may be the worst excuse I've ever heard for a coach.

BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Grad Transfers Ikenna Smart and Torry Johnson to Wake!

Dinos left on July 29th, 2017.

That’s more than 2 months from now.

Our most recent season ended March 6th. From then until now is about as much time as from now until July 29th.

Yes, the staff should have been prepared. Especially once it was apparent that Collins was leaving early.

But this falls more under the category of “tough luck” more than “Manning completely fucked it up” for me.

Dozens of other things bother me more. The 2016 class is one such example.

TT didn’t even announce he was leaving Marshall until July 26th, 2017. You can check Twitter.

Dinos announced he was leaving on July 29th, 2017.

So no, we weren’t involved with TT before the staff knew about Dinos.

I’ll grant you that it’s not particularly important either way, but facts are facts.

Dozens, eh? Start listing.

No restrictions on NCSU’s release of Saddiq Bey. Can go anywhere he wants.

Other than ACC schools. Stupid ACC rule where he would have to sit out one year for “transferring” between ACC schools still applies. That’s an ACC thing that State has no control over. So don’t expect to see him in the ACC.
