Official 2018 NBA Offseason Thread: the preseason cometh

What do you think the Sixers are offering?

Purely speculation, but maybe something like Saric, Covington, and Miami's unprotected first. They also have all their own firsts, Fultz, and Smith and Shamet (1st rounders this year).

That's not as good as Kuz, Ingram and picks

Supposedly it's not including Fultz yet. The reports are they are including Covington, Saric, Smith and draft choices.

By playing with Embiid and Simmons, Saric is very underrated. That being said with all the money the Spurs have tied up in Pau and LMA, I'm surprised they would be trading for another PF.

A positive for the Sixers is that they are playing a form of Pop's system and would be able to plug and play them.

He's good with flashes of great. I wonder how much of his stats are inflated by being a top two option on a bad team. He's only 20 and could improve. His three point shooting went way up this year.

People try to say he's KD Light. To me he looks more like Tayshun Prince.

The Spurs/Lakers potential is interesting thinking about the chips each has. Lakers know Kawhi wants to go there eventually so they can try to lowball, but you have to think the Spurs think the likelihood Lebron goes there might be contingent on the Lakers landing Kawhi during this offseason, so that forces the Lakers to play ball somewhat otherwise they might not be able to land Lebron and would have to wait a year to get Kawhi.

Are the Lakers going to take the chance and wait for Kawhi or a Kawhi deal if it kills any chance to PG and they get neither?

The Lakers are pressed for time. If they get Kawhi asap they have a shot at adding lebron this offseason with room for a third. By signing Kawhi outright next year they can only fit two max or near max if i am understanding correctly. Spurs don't appear towant lonzo so one rumor is Lakers trying to trade for a good pic to move to spurs.

How do they do Kawhi, George and Lebron?

George and Lebron will get $70M between them. Even if they stretch Deng, he will count for $7+M. The Spurs want no part of Lonzo so he adds another $7.49M. That's $85M without the slots from a $99M cap before getting Kawhi.

Don't have the specific numbers but that is the theory behind it. Clearly Kawhi can't get supermax from Lakers so he'll have to take less in a sign and trade.

If it happens, Kawhi is scheduled to make about $21M this year. That puts them over $90M for the Big 3 which is too much while having Deng and Lonzo.

It's not easy. They have a lot of work to do to get everything to work.

I can't see how it's possible at all. No one will take Deng's contract. Even if they got a third team to take Lonzo, I don't see how the numbers can work even if every other player played for the minimum.

So, you think that someone will take a 33 yo player, who will make $18M/year for the next two years?

A player who was healthy but only dressed for ONE game this year on a non-playoff team. A player who played only 56 games the year before and shot under 40% from the field.

Yep, teams are lining up to get Deng.

BTW, the Lakers have been trying to move him for most of the last two years.

The Lakers got rid of the Mozgov contract by including D-Lo. They may have to do the same with another #2 pick to get rid of the Deng contract. There are teams that will definitely take on Deng if Lonzo is also coming along.

They have been trying to move Deng and teams genuinely like the guy. He's supposed to be a great teammate and has said he likes mentoring young players.

His problem is having two more years. If he only had one left, it wouldn't be that hard.
