Spending 5 days in NYC. Haven’t been in forever and staying in midtown but willing to venture wherever. Anyone got any cool, off the beaten path recs? Restos, music venues, museums. Got some decent gaps in the agenda, will be there Sat-Wednesday.

kids? what kind of museums and food are you into?

No kids, prefer modern art, like live performances- be it comedy, music, plays.

Already signed up for Brooklyn Brewery tour.

Food- willing to try anything cuisine wise. Will probably have a mix of $, $$, and $$$ places. It’s just damn overwhelming to try to narrow down. Looking for any sort of recs or handy references to weed out some of the junk.

Full disclosure wife and I will be at Britney Spears at Radio City Music Hall. Don’t @ me.

Closed on my house, so I'm back to only owning 1.

Maybe one day, I'll have a vacation property like the doctors and lawyers.

One home? And you're not a doctor or lawyer? It's like you wasted your Wake degree.

Since you're staying in Midtown the MOMA seems like an obvious rec.

I saw Britney do a set at the I Heart festival in Las Vegas a couple of years ago. Impressive.

I didn't find a doughnut-centric thread, so I'll drop this here: I had Britt's Donuts in Carolina Beach this morning for the first time. My "best donuts" list has a new #1 (it's Britt's).

1. Selwyn Avenue Pub
2. Several inferior establishments

I'd add the Patriot Saloon to that list. Only been to Nancy, McKenna's and the Toolbox (insert joke here)

So here's a guide to the best dive bars in NYC. https://ny.eater.com/maps/the-best-dive-bars-nyc Discuss.

I've partied in Rudy's before.

"In the corner/of my eye/I saw you in Rudy's/You were very high"

I went to a place a while ago that was underground and had good pitchers and wings, but I totally forget the name of it. It was the same weekend I partied at Rudy's and I fucking partied that weekend.

When I went back to WS last and went to Burke Street I was like "this seemed a lot more high class when I was 21"

Selwyn is definitely the GOAT, but Mooseheads has much better food and is much more divey. Probably not #myersparkelite enough for Biff though.

I eat lunch there once a week and know the owner.
