Video Game Thread - $70 Zelda Expansion!

RSF, I hope day we get to meet at a game or event and you can ask me about it.

E3 was fun. Didn’t get to see much myself but I hear good things about Cyberpunk, Spider-Man, Last of Us 2, Smash Bros...

I foresee another Christmas in which my kids want 6-8 games and they only play with 2.

Some presenter was wearing a Caps championship shirt at E3, that was pretty cool

Went ahead and splurged on every available game on Pinball Arcade given that the licenses are due to expire 6/30. Really cool product for anyone who likes or ever will like pinball.

Finally picked up Pillars of Eternity 2. It's a lot to take in at first if you're not familiar with the game style. I thought Diablo would prepare me for it, and it really didn't. Having to learn enough about the game to essentially play 5 different characters at once is too much in my opinion, but now that I've taken my lumps learning the basics, I'm really enjoying it.

I have a few of the packs. It's a good app; I love pinball.

SNES Classic is in stock on Amazon right now for $80 in case anyone is interested. Just picked one up.

Big Xbox game sale running through the end of July. I got 5-6 games including Dark Souls 3 Deluxe edition for 28 bucks. Worth checking out.

I picked up Dark Souls Remastered and Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First sin too. I am slogging through Dark Souls remastered and I'm about 10 hours into it and it's FINALLY sort of clicking with me. It's still not at all what I would call "fun."

The amount of satisfaction and accomplishment you get when you finally beat a boss completely blows away other games' experiences.

I'm eagerly awaiting DS for Switch. That's the only of these games I never got around to playing.

What sort of stuff do you like?

Pretty much Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, and Clash Golf for the last 3-4 years. Just recently deleted all 3, kinda over the pay to play games that I only dump 10.00 into per year.

So you don’t want something like that or want something similar but actually free (or freer)?

I will admit that last night I finally beat a Black Knight, and he dropped a titanite chunk and the black knight sword. Then I went to the next black knight and killed him and he dropped another titanite chunk and the black knight greatsword. That was pretty satisfying.

I got off to a really bad start in this game because I couldn't beat the Taurus Demon. I watched videos, I read guides, etc. but in my attempts all the stuff I was supposed to do just did not work. I had to try fighting him 20 or 21 times before I finally killed him. Since then it hasn't been as bad. For instance, I actually killed the Gargoyles on top of the church in one try.

I do know if I actually want to beat the whole game though, that I'm going to have to level up WAY beyond where most people are to beat certain bosses.

Oh and I did beat Havel last night and his ring makes life much easier as I'm not either running around naked or fat rolling everywhere trying to dodge attacks.

Raleigh, are you doing co-op? If it's not dead I highly recommend that for a more casual experience. It's still tough but you can help people in a new area and learn the patterns, map etc. You can also get help for yourself from experienced people that like to help. I don't know how robust the user base is.

I think there's still a fair amount of people on in the remastered version. I was going to co-op with a friend of mine, but he's like level 132 or something ridiculous, and I'm 36, so we can't match up. I'll give a random summon a shot or two. Now that I've learned the mechanics and have really upped my vitality and endurance I can deal with the game much, much better. Although I still die a lot from falling off ledges because of the abysmal camera in this game.
