It's not patronizing. He was trying to justify his grotesque and unfeeling position. He was trying back-up his willful callousness towards a man and his family. But you will parse to a bizarre excuse thinking it makes you look good.

Hey, fellas. You can have whatever feelings you want about McCain, but that should have nothing to do with whether you think Trump is a deranged, douchey, shitty pile of shit. You think Trump dissed McCain for the political reasons you described, MHB? No, he did it because he is a classless, petty, piece of human trash who will hopefully suffer a much worse fate than McCain is currently suffering.
 
This discussion is a perfect distillation of liberalism. NED and RJ care more about manners and decorum than they do about the killing of 51 children. They don't stake out any ideological positions so NED can pretend he is a democrat and RJ can incessantly defend shitty democrats who are equally as complicit in constant war. Their favorite pundits on TV will pearl clutch about antifa knocking a camera out of a journalist's hand but not even fucking cover the Yemen conflict.

It has nothing to do with McCain being a hero. I disagreed with him 90% of the time. It's about being a human being. MHB is truly showing his lack of humanity.

Why do I say MHB is Trumpian? Here are two major parallels. First, if you disagree with MHB or Trump about anything, they attack and see you as an enemy. Second, MHB has proudly admitted here that he has no empathy for McCain. Trump also has no empathy for those who don't kiss hiss ass.

The concept that the extreme left and extreme right are polar opposites is incorrect. It's not a line. Political beliefs are more like a circle. The extremes meet.

You guys tellingly get so mad and defensive about the horseshoe -- I was posting it in response to rj talking about extreme left and right being a circle. But it is interesting that, while the focus had been on what Trump did and why, it ends up with usual suspects somehow taking the position that McCain doesn't deserve the honor of Trump mentioning his name (which is hilarious), and, as you said, the far left and far right hating McCain.

I hate his politics, but the guy is dying of brain cancer right now. Get a grip, boys.

This is idiotic. I can disagree vehemently about policies and votes while still having empathy for a person dying a terrible death.

But you are doing your best PH in taking all sides. You said you had empathy for McCain, but now are trying to say his votes should change that.

Things that can all be true at the same time:

1) John McCain should be respected for his service in the military and lauded for surviving what no normal American could possibly imagine
2) Donald Trump is the scum of the earth and his continuous disrespect shown toward McCain's military service is despicable
3) John McCain's legislative and political record should be scrutinized and criticized appropriately, especially when it comes to defense and war decisions
4) McCain was one of the only GOP Senators to ever stand up to Donald Trump, which deserves credit in its own right
5) Cancer fucking sucks

I feel for McCain and his family. I've lost damn near double digit family members to cancer in the last decade. Both of my parents are cancer survivors. I wish the entire McCain family peace in John McCain's inevitable passing. But that does not shield McCain from criticism for his record, of which I think a large amount of OGB members would have issue. It's not unempathetic to criticize McCain.

You act like most of us haven't been posting on here since 2011. I don't need to prove to you and NED that I'm appropriately empathetic for cancer sufferers and survivors. Anybody who knows me IRL knows that.

I'm just pointing out your raging hypocrisy. You're essentially telling people that they have to empathize with a man dying of brain cancer, whose politics are responsible for death of 51 children (not to mention millions of civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan), with whom I have yet to see you publicly empathize. See how shitty that logic is?

It's cool to try and get a rise out of people, but don't pretend like you're better than that. your horseshoe posts are like jhmd minus the originality and wit. he still lurks so maybe he can give you some tips on how to own the board progs.
