Wake Forest Football 2018 Offseason Discussion

I really hope BC comes into BB&T heavily favored as all the pundits I've been seeing seem to think. That's just what we need to end our skid of home losses to them.

If both teams are 2-0, I'd expect Wake to be a slight favorite at home.

There's a huge difference between the "expert" talking heads that fall in love with certain teams before a year starts and the true experts that set the line or move the line with their bets. If WF played BC today, WF would be a slight favorite. The line will be influenced by the results of the first two games, but absent a decisive loss to Tulane and a struggle against Towson (and two BC blowouts to start the season), there is no chance BC would be a heavy favorite at WF.

I understand why folks would jump on the trendy BC pick to breakout this season, but I just don't agree with it. The schedule is not their friend. They could be a decent team and still not make a bowl game.

How do you draw Miami and VT from the Coastal in the same season? That's brutal.

they get VT every year

getting to play Duke every year is pretty advantageous

obviously it ebbs and flows a bit, but over time I think it's an under-discussed leg up

Exactly. After coming to Winston-Salem, BC's next six ACC games are at NC St, UL, Miami, at VT, Clemson and at FSU. If betting lines were published today, they might be favored in one of those (UL). When/if they lose at Wake I can see a potential 2-6 conference record in their future.

Les-- off topic, but why won't your page allow me to post comments? Says something about my cookies? Maybe they know I really have nothing meaningful to say!

The ever defensive Pilchard. What I said (fact check please) was that "I hope BC is heavily favored", because that would motivate our guys. I thought that was obvious.

Think that's a known bug they're working on. If you go to the message board thread on that topic, you should be fine (instead of posting right on the article). Thanks!

I wouldn’t be shocked if BC won two of those six.

It's still early in the career process but I'm concerned that Mike Allen, according to Les, hasn't stepped-up to at least be on the 2-deep.

Does anyone know if you can get CBSSN on slingTV? Or is it just tough luck for a broke person.
