I thought you meant it is a good thing he's not committing to Wake Forest to play basketball... Not that it could be a good thing that he's not coming to visit.

Wonder if no TJD visit makes Harris more or less likely... It's probably not a positive, given the only reason we thought TJD might commit to Wake was as a package w/ Harris.

VT has had a lot of its other PG targets commit elsewhere or drop them from consideration (6 outstanding offers, down from 15 at one point). I wonder if there is a definite vibe among recruits that Harris is a lock for them.
 
Given that TJD is basically a lock and Harris isn't even visiting IU, I don't put a lot of credence in the "TJD/Harris package deal".

Who else visited with that Vandy dude who did something like that?
 
I’ve seen this show before. This is where we get slightly optimistic about our recruiting prospects, only to be out-recruited by Northern Colorado or Howard. You guys are Charlie Brown with the football.

Didn’t you (or somebody else) bring up the example of John Collins who wasn’t interested in Wake until he visited? A team like Wake should never take an OV for granted.

Visits are an objectively good thing for a program. It gives you a chance.

If our staff is doing its job on the recruiting trail, then a visit is an opportunity to close the deal.

If they’re handing out OVs like candy, then I agree with you. That would be unbelievably irresponsible, though, not to mention a big waste of time and resources.

EVERY "expert" has TJD going to IU. This is not on the staff.

except for the fact that sportsnut implied that there might be another factor at play that makes this a mutual decision

I don’t care what the experts say. Should we be okay with losing our other visits (outside of Massoud) because all of the experts say that these recruits will go elsewhere.

It’s rare to lose an official visit like this. That’s all I’m saying. I’ve been paying attention to this stuff for awhile and you have too. One can spin this situation in any number of ways, but barring an immediate commitment/canceling other OVs, this just isn’t a good look for our program.

To suggest otherwise is ignoring how a process we’re both very familiar with actually works.
 
This is a unique situation. This kid not only has shown a great deal of interest in another school, but his father is a beloved legend in that state. You can't logically conflate this player with others.

OR maybe they think Ant is going to commit this weekend. :)

That would be pretty amazing, and yes would be deserving of pretty much everyone who posts getting excited. Except for Racer...nothing can chase away his basketball storm cloud. :)
