Because they knew assholes like Hatch, Grassley and Graham would end up calling her a liar and even worse. They are the living, breathing definition of cowardice.
 
 
Graham's points about being ambushed have some validity, but that's water under the bridge. This whole thing between the two parties is about the timing of getting whoever the nominee is approved. The Dems during the testimony wasted a ton of time grandstanding about the need to investigate further when what would have really served them best was for the witness to keep talking. And the GOP looks pretty bad bitching about the timing of the release of the allegations to them. Both sides have points to their complaints but when you know it is all in the context of the timing of a vote for a nominee it comes off as off base.

Again, only viable outcome that makes sense is for this guy to go away.

I want Ed Whalen to be called as a witness. How did he know who Ford was before her name was made public? Which Republican gave him that name?

I hope the guy Whalen accused can sue him, his old publication and Fox News for their intentional harm of him.
 
Kavanaugh has gone from not drinking to drinking some beers, to sometimes drinking too many. He's going to change his opening statement to:

"I was a fall down, stumbling, blackout drunk on weekends with Mark Judge from 15-22. How can you expect me to remember every stupid thing I said or did during those years?"

Then, he pull the mic from its stand, drops on the floor and leaves. Republican Senators give him a standing, howling ovation and immediately hold the vote.

He is coming off attacking all Dems and like the drunken asshole Ford and all the others have portrayed him as being in his teens, twenties and later.

Holy shit! He's calling the Dems' actions as disgraceful. He's not just throwing down the gauntlet. He's stealing their trucks, kicking their dogs and sleeping with their spouses. I have NEVER seen an opening statement within 5% of this. He is flat out pissed and attacking EVERYONE.

"this is a circus. The consequences will last longer than my appointment"

Basically, he's saying he's going to fuck Dems for the rest of his life on the Supreme Court.

What a colossal asshole! He should be turned down just for this opening speech.
