Prosecutor who questioned Ford Shreds her case

My God, what a total crock of shit.

You just described the recent history of NC governance as a "crock of shit."

You seem to be troubled by basic math. Yesterday, you struggled with truth that people elected by smaller states (and mostly the rural areas of those states) have power over people elected by the bigger states.

What do you think is actually happening if basic election math troubles you so much?

What weird times we live in. Some Republicans like Max Boot and Steve Schmidt realize how bad the GOP is and others are still like "Go Team!"

What is wrong about this, DeacsPop?

Also, why are you so belligerent these days? You were so excited about golfing and retirement in SC and, once you got there, you morphed into a really angry poster.

Oh please, not angry at all. Enjoying my life, my retirement, being a Parent, Grandparent, thankful for each and every day.

With that said I’ve been around long enough to know a crock of shit when I hear it.

“We’ve become a diverse, increasingly secular, urbanized nation that is govererned by a rural, non-diverse minoritywhose values and views are from another age, and rooted in false nostalgia, anti science religious fundamentalism, and white tribalism”

Can one be anymore condescending? Please......

And since when is it belligerent to believe a qualified man has been wrongly accused of sexual assault and is worthy of being on the Supreme Court. Is it not “allowed” to have a different opinion than most of the posters on this Board?

Or am I just one of those “non diverse minorities whose views and values are from another age and rooted in false nostalgia”

It's not about his opinions. It's about lying. It's about his promise to hold grudges.

You're allowed to have different opinions, but it helps if they're based on facts.

How do you define MAGA?

No, it is not. As soon as you think for yourself and stray from leftist orthodoxies you are automatically guilty of a whole list of vile errors and sins and need to be denounced and derided immediately and universally. Welcome to lefty dystopia.

This is what happens to people with shit, white supremacist opinions.

So we aren’t allowed to have the opinion that your opinions are bad. Gotcha.

It's remarkable. I can't imagine what it's like having a conversation with some of these posters. I doubt it's possible to get a word in and, when you do, I'm sure that you'll get interrupted.

We're in a weird place where a significant proportion of the population - some on the left and many on the right - are simply unable to tell the difference between fact and opinion (not to mention fiction), think critically, or engage respectfully with alternative perspectives.

As an educator, this strikes me as a really a frightening prospect.

We've become a diverse, increasingly secular, urbanized nation that is governed by a rural, non-diverse minority whose values and views are from another age, and rooted in false nostalgia, anti-science religious fundamentalism, and white tribalism. Basically, places like Charlotte and Raleigh are being governed by the likes of Randleman and Reidsville. I'm sure this will end well.

I do think it’s worth examining this narrative and supporting it with data. I recall when Trump talked in dogwhistles about blacks he did so in a way that ignored a majority non-urban black community. Also, in our urban areas, at least here in KC, segregation in neighborhoods has not been addressed and gentrification is going to push POC out of areas. We can’t just assume that the politics in white urban and suburban neighborhoods is not also conservatives. I do agree with your characterization of the Republican Party. I think their politics are just the worst kind of vile law and order dog whistles. But i do think I’d need more data on diversity breakdowns in the urbanization growth. I also agree that in certain states or locations gerrymandering and voter suppression mean in effect a minority rule. But i think it’s more accurate to say we are ruled by an elite class, on both sides. Two cents before bed.

A lot of self-professed independents are coming out as Republicans on this thread. You can't have it both ways, y'all.

Owning the libs isn't politics.

Maybe..but disagreeing with Democrats and their destructive policies IS politics.

You reaped what the feckless Obama opposed and that why you got the boot in 2016.

LOL, again. That's not condescending, dude, it's based on actual voting data. Have you even seen where the GOP and Democrats are now drawing their votes from? Like, a map of NC from the last few elections? What parts of the state are colored blue, and what parts are colored red? What about Georgia? Or Pennsylvania or Michigan? Do you deny that the GOP base is now mainly in rural, small-town, and some suburban areas, while the Democratic base is in the cities? What about I what I typed is false, exactly?

get the fuck out of here with your “data”

I'm talking about politics, and where both parties are drawing their votes from. If you look at NC, Democratic areas are now mostly urban, with some rural black belt counties, but they don't provide very many votes. The GOP base is now almost entirely rural and small-town, with some suburban areas. And that's true in a good many states - Georgia, PA, Michigan, Tennessee, and so on. In pure political terms, that's what we are now.

Have you actually spoken to rural Republicans, DeacsPop? I have, lots and lots of them. And, yes, they yearn for a return to the past. They talk about closed factories all the time. Back in the 90s, or 80s, or sometime when things were just wonderful. Have you seen all the articles about those coal miners in WV and PA who won't go to job retraining classes because they just want their old jobs back? What do you think these people are doing, if not wanting to stick to a dying industry out of misplaced nostalgia for the "good old days?" This isn't that hard, and it isn't as if it hasn't been discussed in the news media for years now.

interestingly, DeacsPop was one of the few (only?) conservative posters on the board who was pretty anti-Trump during the campaign, constantly referring to him as "Dump" if I recall. now, he seems to be taking offense to us criticizing Trump's base, which he himself seemed to think he was above.

It's not his fault, the Democrats made him support Trump.

I can’t speak on behalf of DeacsPop, but the Dems certainly have not given people like him a reasonable place to land. Step back and look at the protest that was led by Elizabeth Warren yesterday. That sort of stuff does more to normalize Trump than it does to hurt him.
