Wake Forest Football Recruiting

He’s about 175-180 from what I’ve heard from guys who have coached him and against him. Hope u guys won’t jump off a cliff when he isn’t Peter Warrick as a freshman. He’s going to need a year or two to adjust.

Yeah. That’s been the word on him. We don’t need him right away.

Give him a year with the S&C coach.

Yeah, what's not to like. Good height, fast, good hands, accelerates quickly, runs good routes and has the frame to get up to 200-205 by his R-Soph season. Most importantly, he is a local kid that wants to be a Deac. Very glad to have him and the rest of the 2019 class!

*evaluation of a prospect’s potential has nothing to do with whether or not a guy contributes as a Freshman in college, or is needed or anything else frankly.

Hopefully ^ that can be absorbed and retained.

To wit: Tory Holt did not have significant contributions until well into his RS Soph campaign for the Pack. When he entered NCSU he was running a 4.65 - 4.7 40 and the Wolfpack fans initially called him “hands of stone” during his frosh season

I spoke to him after the MA vs South Stokes game and he had a great game. But to be honest when I spoke to him I thought he looked smaller height and weight Wise than listed.

I'm 6'1" 185 and he was quite a bit bigger than me.

And as of right now we're pretty loaded at receiver so there's no need for a freshman to come in right away and produce massively

I don't think we should redshirt Nolan or Donovan. If they're as good as advertised then that could bite us, similar to the Bates situation, and what could end up being Dortch leaving too.

I think the best players will play and incoming freshmen who earn a full season of playing time will get it. Those who earn up to four games will get that.

I see Groulx playing more than Greene next season.

It will be hard to beat out Surratt, Scotty, Waydale, and Claude.

If Dortch leaves, Groulx could split time with jaquarii. Also, the slot doesn’t require as much size as the outside.

Seems like Groulx could slide right in for Bachman if Dortch stays. Bachman was the backup slot anyway.

I sure hope it's not hard to beat out Waydale or Claude (or even Washington)

The outside WR position(s) require physicality and size. Even if Greene has more upside than all three of those receivers, he cannot gain on them in age and time spent in the weight room.

Whole point of my post was that those outside positions requires more size/strength than the slot position where Groulx can play. Perhaps we move Greene inside for his freshman year to simply get his talent on the field.

ETA: I wouldn't give up on Waydale yet and Scotty has shown flashes throughout his career.

Are we? Dortch yes (unless he jumps early). Bachman graduates. Washington has been inconsistent as have the others unless I'm forgetting someone. It seems to me both Greene and Groulx will have a chance to play early. Forgot Surratt. But he's no blazer.

Dortch stays at least one more year. Surratt starts on the outside. Washington has been hurt this season, and I expect him to bounce back next season. He'll definitely be a starter week 1 next year. Robeson, Jones, and AT Perry all had great reviews coming out of camp. And then there's Claude, Isaac, Groulx, Greene, and Morin. It's a deep position.

I hope the opposite, but only because the others have improved.

Claude might not ever develop into a great receiver. He can run fast, but that may be it other than contributing to special teams. If I'm wrong about him, then that would be great. Waydale seems to be tall, fast and have good hands, but he needs to add weight. He could be a guy that we don't hear a lot out of until his r-junior or r-senior year.

A healthy r-senior Washington SHOULD be a handful for any defensive back next year.

The past two years when Washington is healthy he has absolutely dominated some CBs off the line of scrimmage.

The "fade" routes against Duke this year and aTm last year come to mind. He is an important option.

It would be great if the guys took big steps up, but it's more likely to get an upgrade from new talent. Reminds me of when we were happy with the performance of Lewis, Hines and Wade at WR who were all surpassed by the new guys.

never been that impressed with Washington

a few highlights, but lots of drops and disappears for long stretches
