2019 offical College Football thread

I don’t know much about Benny Snell Jr but he seems like a good dude.

Man, in both football and basketball, the Pac-12 has really #declined over the last few years.

You're right.
I know it's been a while, but I still think of UCLA (basketball) and USC (football) as primo teams year in/year out.
There's still plenty of HS talent on the left coast so I'm not sure what has changed so much. Coaching?

Oregon was so damn fun to watch under Kelly. Hopefully he gets UCLA like that but I doubt it without the Nike money.

Pretty impressive opening drive by Texas.
I think most folks were thinking UGA's defense would dominate.
Think again.

What the hell just happened in that game? How did Texas end up with the ball in UGa territory? They had downed the punt inside the Texas 10 then come back from the break with the ball deep in UGa territory.

This game is quickly developing into an unexpected blowout.

Texas has 110 yds offense. UGA has 8.

It’s going to be sad not seeing Biff for the next few months.

Maybe Hernan should start sneaking his QB from under center. He did score three TDs on four tries though.

This game is going to keep Georgia fans quiet for a while.
At least they won't be arguing that they should have been in the playoff.

What a wild, sloppy ending to this game.
2 consecutive plays with targeting penalties and disqualifications.

The SEC isn't doing much to fight the perception that they're a one team league. Their other wins have come against the Big Ten, UCF, and State.

lol

They will just say they lost motivation. Just look at Alabama’s loss to Utah when Meyer was there for the talking points.

Motivated or not, UGA needed to win that game. If they want to signal that they belong up w/ Alabama & Clemson (and even Ohio State), they need to win non-playoff bowl games. A really bad look for UGA last night.

Having said that, I don't understand the SEC hate... Other than because people like to just hate on the best conference. A mediocre UF team destroyed a Michigan team that was a shoo-in for the playoff on Thanksgiving. LSU beat UCF. UK beat Penn State. A&M blew out NCSU. Auburn destroyed Purdue. Aside from UGA, the SEC teams that lost weren't any of the "elite" SEC programs. You're going to argue that the SEC is a one-team league because Vandy, South Carolina, Mizzou, & Miss State lost bowl games? Who cares?

I'd actually argue the opposite. Yeah, Bama is clearly the #1 program in college football. I hate UGA, but they are on the next tier behind Bama(1) & Clemson (1A). Add in UF & Texas A&M looking like they'll be Top 10ish teams going forward and you have a pretty formidable stable of teams at the top... More than any other conference, to be sure.

The 1-team league in college football has been the ACC for the last few years. Never more apparent than this season. Yikes.
