Ongoing Dem Debacle Thread: Commander will kill us all

I don’t give two shits about specific invectives. More concerned that the hurlers of such are somewhat accurate in their assessments. And whatever is the effect of the language used. Trump is a disaster of a human and president. It needs to be said in a variety of ways.


What passes for Republican policy and philosophy is way more offensive.
 
With New Voting Laws, Democrats Flex Newfound Power in New York

After years of lagging behind other states, New York radically overhauled its system of voting and elections on Monday, passing several bills that would allow early voting, preregistration of minors, voting by mail and sharp limits on the influence of money.

The bills, which were passed by the State Legislature on Monday evening, bring New York in line with policies in other liberal bastions like California and Washington, and they would quiet, at least for a day, complaints about the state’s antiquated approach to suffrage.

Their swift passage marked a new era in the State Capitol. Democrats, who assumed full control this month after decades in which the Legislature was split, say they will soon push through more of their priorities, from strengthening abortion rights to approving the Child Victims Act, which would make it easier for victims of childhood sexual abuse to sue their assailants.

A couple of things relaetd to that article:

1) the author says that more an more voices are saying he was a bad president, but the links included say only that socialist and bernie's twitter hoard (and some guy named Matt Stoller). You are not going to see any democratic candidate say that because Obama is incredibly popular still, they need him (Bernie does too, but he won't admit it and won't win), and it is not true.

2) one of the links to a source that does not say includes a link to this article: http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2018/12/bernie-sanders-beto-orourke-feud-2020-campaign-democratic.html?utm_source=tw, which states the following:

"The voters who pulled the lever for Sanders, by contrast, are ideologically indistinguishable from the rest of the party. Among the minority of voters who identified as “very liberal,” the most left-wing choice, Sanders and Clinton performed about equally. In 2016, Sanders voters actually had more conservative views on economic inequality and changes to Social Security and Medicare than Clinton voters did."

That's interesting. Did not know that.
 
Well yeah, because it makes no sense to support Bernie but be conservative when it comes to income inequality and medicare. Just mindless people voting for whichever old white dude was the angriest.

You can say whatever you want about the results of some of the policies Obama enacted and you can cry wolf all you want about how he wouldn't compromise with Congress Republicans holding him hostage, but Obama was the best President of the last 50 years, since at least LBJ (if not JFK). Not to mention he's the only President in the last 50 years to not have a major scandal while in office.

Criticize is fine. “Obama was a bad President” is ridiculous.

If Progressives hadn’t been silent for 8 years, they could have been more pressure on Obama and elected more Democrats to office. Where were the Progressive marches when Mitch refused to consider Garland?
