Mike Drum is opening 3 Wing Stop franchises in the Triad:
A fast-growing – perhaps the hottest – national restaurant chain is opening the first of three new Triad locations next weekend.
Wingstop (NASDAQ: WING) has scheduled a grand opening for its new store at The Shoppes at Wendover Village, 4205 W. Wendover Ave. in Greensboro, on March 16. From noon until 4 p.m., the restaurant will give each guest five free wings – no purchase required.
As Triad Business Journal reported late last year, a Wingstop, also owned by Drum, is planned at North Summit Square Shopping Center in Winston-Salem. Nicks said the Winston-Salem location as well as one on the northwest corner of the intersection of Main Street and Westchester Avenue in High Point should open in April.
Nicks said Atticus plans to open other locations in the Triad, home base for East Coast Wings, which has more than 30 locations throughout North Carolina.
"We should have a few more (in the Triad) open in the next year," Nicks told TBJ.
Wingstop made news Feb. 27 when Chief Experience Officer Stacy Peterson Androes resigned. In its earning announcement the same day, the Dallas-based chain announced it had opened 51 new restaurants and had same-store sales growth of 6 percent last quarter. Wingstop’s revenue rose 15.1 percent to $40.5 million for the fiscal quarter.
Wingstop's menu includes bone-in and boneless chicken wings, as well as chicken tenders, all sauced and tossed in 11 flavors. Sides include hand-cut seasoned fries.
