BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Charles Coleman de-commits to Wake. :(

I'm no mix tape expert, but there were impressive aspects of that video. Most impressive to me were: 1) grabbing a lose ball and going straight up to dunk (around 1:30) - that's really tough to do as a guard, 2) his body control on the finishes in the lane, 3) finishing with the left hand a couple times, 4) his 3 point shot (good form).

I also noted all of those. his lateral quickness and explosiveness is impressive for a high school kid that is relatively unheralded.

Is it just me or is his entire highlight video just a bunch of dunks on fast breaks with the occasional contested layup or outside shot? Little to no evidence shown that he can effectively lead a team from the PG position.

Based on that video, Manning's well thought out and in-depth game plan for next year will be "get Neath as many fast breaks as possible."

Stats from senior season... Only 11 games, though... Not sure why.

To me, he looks like a very good athlete... But more of a scorer than a shooter. I have zero feel for how he'll fit as a PG.

Have to think he's playing against mediocre competition relative to big-time US prospects.

My guess is that he'll turn into a solid ACC player in a few years, but I have low expectations for his first season. Hoping he can play 5-10 mpg at PG... Kind of like Jamie Lewis was doing before it became obvious that he didn't belong in the ACC.

That's kinda what I'm getting at. He won't be able to make a career of dunks in the lane and layups against smaller competition in the ACC like he does in the video. Would have hoped to have seen more passing, more mid-range, and some defense. A bunch of fast break dunks tell me nothing except that the guy can jump well for a guard. If that's really the highlight of his game, he'll have a long way to go. He certainly won't be able to spell Childress much. We are already lacking in a floor leader, but Neath doesn't look like the answer.

Dude, it is a mix tape. Do you ask for better acting and deeper plots in music videos?

second rounders are not guaranteed to get a guaranteed contract - but it does happen. In fact it seems pretty standard for the top half of the second round - I've seen similar charts for 2017 and I believe 2016

This is a good list and does counter my argument somewhat, I totally admit. I have argued that this particular draft was particularly deep with good not lottery pick players (which was one of our arguments for Crawford and Moore and staying put last year). I also prefer your method of arguing - no need to belittle or cut down or create some absolute black/white argument. Rather, for me, this is an interesting discussion. One I am happy to backpedal on if good facts/arguments are presented (which you admittedly did).

That said, I checked a few of these and Brunson is guaranteed for two years, not three - and as you would imagine, the salary jumps pretty high in the two non-guaranteed years. That said, $1.3 million this year is essentially low first round money. But Chimeze Metu is only getting $800,000 this year (okay), $1.4 mil next year (very good), and the $1.7 in his last year is not guaranteed.

There does seem to be some shifting in salary though and I wonder if that is a result of increased salaries in China, France, Spain, etc... or simply a product of an abnormally deep draft after the high lottery. Not sure.

And - is this compelling for Hoard? That is the question. Is this the NBA journey he imagined? Late 2nd round pick with possibly guaranteed money possibly not? Almost definitely not, but will that give him enough pause and does he imagine having a good time with basketball success and improvement next year at Wake - that is the question. My answer: I have no idea. I would be more confident if Shaka Smart was coming in though.

Hard to say anything positive about Wake basketball right now but Neath is gonna be pretty good.

Yeah, I have to think there is zero chance Harris comes to Wake Forest. It'd be nice, but I think that ship has sailed.

The sooner Hoard makes up his mind about leaving, the sooner we can use his scholly on a terrible graduate big.

or on another project big man.....

pretty sure it's to the right of NC State, given that other tweets show other ACC banners on other walls
Then ours is still not in the photo.
You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to note how the photo was staged.

I think there's a better chance that there's no WF banner on the wall than the photo being staged.
