NCAAT discussion (the end)

Looks like the final will feature 2 great defensive teams and I feel great because our coach is going to hang his hat on defense and now that he has his players in there we’re gonna really do it oh hell I can’t do this

I’m just hoping for a pizza party on Monday night.

“This is how you guard your damn man!”

You cool with him regarding his call with Deon Thomas?
Of course not. But that was 30 years ago. Holding things against people forever is a crappy way to go through life. I'd take Bruce at Wake in a millisecond.

This game features a Mooney actually worthy of #MooneyCam.

Watch the replay in slow motion. You’ll see the ref clearly raise his arm to call the foul WAY before whatever minimal contact was made. He 100% anticipated a foul happening and was going to call it regardless. Just bogus officiating. Bring on the robots.

You cannot be serious. As uncabo says, it was to signal the three.

It was a good foul call, and I’m someone who hates tickytack fouls. AU defender has to know not to even allow that possibility.

Good Lord

I stand by what I said. He closes his fist to signal the foul well before the minimal contact was made. My dad (Wake grad, adopted UVA fan) texted me that it happened and I agree. Anticipatory garbage call.

And a call that shouldn’t have even been possible after a blatant double dribble. Bet double dribbles will now be reviewable in the last 2 minutes starting next year (a la NFL PI due to Saints missed call).

That was an absurd call to gift a team a spot in the final. Come the fuck on. That call never would have been made if Duke or UNC was the opposing team and we all would be torching our houses if it was called against Wake.

Also, MSU has probably been the more physical team in this game and is up 18-7 in FTs. I HATE college basketball officials.

Neither of those things makes it a bad call. It should be called on Duke or UNC, and it should have been called on Auburn as well

I don't ask for much, but please never let Chris Beard coach Duke.

Or even moreso UNC, though thankfully I don't think they'd go for him

It was clearly a foul. Guy went straight up and the Auburn player clipped him with his lower body and didn't allow him to land. It's not as if Guy kicked his leg out or leaned into the defender.

Even if this is the case, which I disagree with, it didn’t affect the shot at all. And I’m not buying any “player safety” garbage about allowing Guy to land. He landed just fine.

You really like to whine wood. Jesus. Not sure if you've watched basketball before but it's a foul regardless of if you've already shot the ball.

Still wanna cry about Ohio State getting left out two years ago?

So banging into a shooter's legs while he is in midair and hasn't released the shot yet is not a foul? Um, ok-

Many of the fouls in sports are about player safety. This is similar to the play that took Kawhi out of the playoffs.

I’ve watched way too much college basketball In my life. I just think college basketball referees are awful in general and this is the ultimate example.

Pretty weird to bring OSU football into this thread, but I’m happy to talk Ryan Day/Justin Fields with you elsewhere!

Did anybody see contact on the last shot Auburn took after Guy hit the free throws? Watching it live, I thought there was contact and a foul could have been called there too, but they didn’t show replay.

I wondered the same thing live. They did show a replay and the Virginia player stayed stationary and the Auburn player’s momentum took him into the Virginia player. Definitely not a foul on Virginia.
