Official 2018-19 NBA Season Thread - NBA Finals Raptors Win #WeTheNorth

Shocked there is no discussion about CP3s ejection.

It is tough to root for CP3, he is such an asshole. I loved him at Wake, and rooted for him hard the first few years in the NBA, but he really is a douchebag. He shoved his ass into the defender and then whines about not getting a call. Between him whining and Harden flopping and everything [Redacted] that team is really tough to watch.

Yep. I'm rooting for him now but hard to see rooting for him against any other team in the West.

I am there with you, PH. I loathe watching CP3 stand in the corner as Harden dribbles around the perimeter for 15 seconds and then passes it to Gordon. He is so underutilized in Hou - at least with my Wake goggles on. I'd rather he idle alongside Lebron than the Beard. I've also always felt D'Antoni was the biggest whiny bitch of a coach in the NBA I can remember. Maybe Mike Fratello.

I also think that players get reps, usually well earned, and calls follow. Harden jumps his legs out a lot. There are a number of shooters who do that. They used to get the foul years ago and now don't as much. Harden does it a lot. Also, Klay Thompson is not known as a dirty player (he isn't) and he got away with jumping under Harden once. Green iS known as a dirty player, and he almost didn't get away with a clean play there at the end, at least by accounts of fans. I mean, this foul is in place because of Big Head Zaza who changed the course of the Spurs and the playoffs themselves ever since he jumped under Kawhi on purpose. That is why the rule is in place. If they really want to inforce it, then you suspend the player for as long as the player he jumped under misses time + 3 to 5 games. Period. With half pay. That will kill the move.

Players have also learned to fall on their butts on contested jumpers like that in order to possibly draw the call, but also protect their ankles. Timmy used to roll the floor when he got entagled for the same reason. It did not protect his knees from doucehbag Fischer or overly ambitious JJ Barrea

If players are falling on their butts to protect their ankles, how is that not a foul?

No doubt Harden uses the rules to his advantage, but the answer is not to avoid calling fouls.

It is really hard to try and block a step back 3 with out encroaching into the landing area of the shooter.
I don't think that means you don't make the call.

If you are going to do that, it cannot just be during the playoffs.

Exactly. Harden dribbling around is maddening. Anti ball movement. CP3 standing there reminds me of the McDonald's All American game when Lebron kept waving off CP3, so King James could bring the ball up the court.

Isn't the GSW move, or Zaza on Kawhi undercut cheap ass move, now a flagrant 1?

It seems like they had 4-5 of those on Harden, in one damn game.

The only reason the Rockets aren’t more obnoxious is the lack of playoff success.

People who hate flopping and whining should hate the Warriors more than any other team in the NBA. Draymond alone is a worse offender than any player on the Rockets and the rest are not much better.

Embiid is 0/1 from the field, Sixers have 9 turnovers, and are up 19.

Huh.

Ben has been outstanding defending Kawhi.

It’s too bad I like Steve Kerr so much because I can’t stand the Warriors.

This game feels like one we blow early in the second half

I’d say i was prophetic if it wasn’t so obvious

Then again a Boban, Bolden, Ennis, Redick, Simmons lineup will do that to you

Ennis has taken 10 shots tonight. Feels more like 50.

So many wide open bricks by the Raps.

Gotta win ugly road games if you wanna win in the playoffs. Loved Ben and Jimmy tonight defensively. Coach stole some minutes with absolute scrubs too. Would be great if at some point in the playoffs Embiid could get healthy, but he hit a big bucket when it mattered tonight. Ennis had some nice bench minutes too. And we were really aggressive on the glass, a big difference maker when neither team shot well. Two at home, let’s go.

Embid feasts against any Raptor not named Gasol, who is pretty great against him. Wild that Nick Nurse allowed him to play so much without Gasol out there, especially since his minutes are fairly limited anyway.
