Retired US Soccer / World Cup Thread (RIP)

I had thought Dunn was onside as well. Damn that was close. Pretty second goal with great vision by Heath. Also got a little lucky when Le Sommer missed wide near post when she had it pretty open on the far post.

I feel like the offside rule should be that any part of your body is behind the last defender, like the blue line in hockey

I think this is the rule?

I think he meant if any of part of your body is even with the defender it should not be offside, which would match the blue line offside rule in hockey. I would be fine with that. It's currently entirely dependent on the first playing part of your body being ahead of the defender.

Let's just get rid of it entirely and have a match where you just cherry pick and bomb it up the pitch all 90 minutes. SO MANY GOALS!

Nah, my proposed rule still doesn’t allow for cherry picking.
Yeah just doesn't go far enough. If the attacker was once onside during any part of the possession then I say they should be considered onside until their team loses the ball.
Goals. Goals. Goals. Galore.

No offside from 18 yards out.

Just finished the match. What a great team effort!
