Way too early look to the 2020 NFL Draft

We were going to lose Bassey after this year no matter what. He's a senior.

It is plausible that Jamie Newman could leave after this year if he continues to play well as he redshirted one year. He could do so and still graduate, in theory.

Surratt is a real sophomore, right? And only kids who have spent three years in college can declare correct? If that is still the case, then Surratt HAS to stay one more year. Maybe the NFL cut their 3-year college commitment to 2?

Surratt red-shirted in 2017. He would be draft-eligible if he declared after this season.

The NFL wants players who can play, not just winners of the underwear Olympics. Our guys are demonstrating that they can play. The OB team got looks, few stuck in the League. I've said this before Win games, get respect.

I am a little surprised that Scotty Washington and Justin Herron aren't getting some mention. Justin was being considered an NFL talent tackle presesson last year.

Some NFL receivers coach has got to be thinking about how he could use a 6-5 guy who has a large catch radius and instincts to high point the ball.

Scotty has dropped a bunch of easy catches this year. He'll have to clean that up to get drafted.

Most of those drops were in the first game. He's been a lot better since then.

Yep. Two games without a drop. 22 catches (#34 in the country, #6 in the ACC). Lay off him.

Scotty only looks "bad" because Sage is that good. We have two legit WRs on our roster that can damage any defense.

It's awesome

Three. Don’t forget Hinton.

I don’t think it’s incorrect to say that scouts will at least take into consideration Scotty’s occasional drops. We who’ve watched him know it’s a part of his narrative. Hopefully he’s reshaping that narrative with the recent solid games. Some of the catches he makes are just plain silly and gloriously unfair to DB’s.

Wake with those three receivers all playing well is a nightmare - especially with Jamie throwing as well as he has been. It's impossible to double three guys, cover a tight end and play the run. Opposing defenses will have to pick the way they wish to be beaten. Cover all the receivers, and the Wake O-line should be able to create some big holes for runners.

Yep. DBs who work their asses off containing Sage, Scotty, and Hinton will end up tackling Walker if they're lucky.

Would scouts take into account the drop rate for Newman as well? That yahoo article explicitly mentions drops from the USU game as part of Newman's stat line...

I knew Elkins made it to the NFL but I didn't know he was a 2nd round pick.

Elkins used to bet with me when I was Mr. Vegas (actually co-Mr. Vegas) on campus in the late 80s. Put money on Wake a few times too. Freaked me out.

When the FBI raided campus one morning, I was violently ill, believing they were there for me. It took hours to find out they busted some kid in Kitchen for a fake ID racket.

But we tried to exclude football players from betting with us after that. I couldn't believe he was dumb enough to put his own name on the top of his form - we did a pick 'em, where you had to pick 3 games, 5 games, or 10 games over/under the spread...

I’m a homer but I think sage is a top 10 receiver in the country. Dude has a complete skill set.

I agree. If Sage ran a 4.5, he'd be a lock first round draft pick.
