2020 Carolina Panthers Thread

Seems like Tomlin's seat is heating up in Pittsburgh. I know we're 3-2 now, but just a few weeks ago, Rivera's seat was warm. I wonder what Tepper would think of Tomlin being on the market.

I have heard some rumors of this happening. Not sure how I feel about it.

They said on 610 this morning that he couldn't be there for personal reasons. Also, he made two stops for doughnuts this weekend in Charlotte which I found pretty funny

Good thing he was injured then.

I mentioned this earlier, but Cam is dealing with a very screwed up personal life right now. His baby mama - who is pregnant with his 4th child - left him several weeks ago. Cam is not in a good place by any stretch right now. The physical injury side I actually think is less of an issue than what's going on with him emotionally. It surely can't help. The Panthers know Cam's heart isn't in playing right now and he probably can't throw it in the ocean because of it. I don't even think he has the competitive spirit right now to tuck and run with the ball.

With him also being physically not 100%, the Panthers will probably keep him off the field a while one way or the other. He is messed up from head to toe right now. BAD

At least the man can still dress with the best of them. Hopefully we will have another vlog update with stogie and wine glass in hand to give his emotional status updates. Easy to believe Guitar's assertions as the vlog just screams attention which is pretty wild for a superstar QB.

when folks say stuff like this:

Whatever the case the Panthers are going to have a real tricky situation when Cam does come back as not sure how you can pull Kyle if Panthers keep winning and Cam will be a huge wild card in whether he is really back to his healthy running ways.

what they’re really getting at is this:

After Zona I thought there might be something to Allen, but last couple of games he's been fine but I wouldn't say good, and he certainly wasn't the reason we won the last two games.

Only thing I really hated yesterday were the two calls on 3rd and 4th down in the red zone late. Thought they were trying to get McCaffrey the "TD 3 ways" distinction which was a waste, and then didn't go straight into the line with the 4th down call. That situation is where we miss Cam.

Slye had a bad game, hopefully he'll just shake it off, but did have a weird feeling of Gano 2.0 where he was missing some pressure kicks like I always expected Gano to do

The wide right miss on the 46(?) yarder was actually a "good miss." He barely avoided two rushers from the left side. It could have gotten blocked.

Not really. Kyle is passing 67% with 5 TDs to 0 Ints to Cam's 56% with 0 TDs and 1 int in his 2 games with Kyle 3-0 to Cam's 0-2. hard to justify pulling Kyle when Cam is not as good as kyle if he can't run the ball as Cam has been horribly inaccurate. Just go youtube videos from ESPN if you want to see a montage how Cam is one of the worse in hitting open WRs.

Separately it is easy to see Cam might be dealing with some emotional stuff given vlog. Completely separate train of thought and really could care less except it does call into question how much of a foot issue vs. heart. But still doesn't take away the facts that the performance in reality by Kyle vs. cam would make it hard to justify going back to Cam IF and I repeat IF he isn't mobile and able to run with the confidence he used to. There is no arguing outside of '15 that Cam is just not an accurate QB when it comes to open WRs.

This keeps being repeated on here and I have yet to see a single source or even rumor anywhere else confirming or even discussing this

It's hard to claim you're having a good faith discussion when you're leaving out Allen's fumbles.

It still feels like they don’t trust Allen with the full playbook while Jax opened it up for Minshew. But maybe that’s just Norv’s playbook anyway - force it to McCaffrey and if teams stop him they win.

Sorry for assuming that a post started by mocking Cam’s clothes, stogies and wine was actually a genuine concern for his mental health and an actual desire for him to return once healthy. Obviously he should not play if he’s not able to play at a high level.

A healthy Cam Newton playing at his past high levels is unquestionably better than Kyle Allen.

I do think though that there is a high chance Cam might never make it back to that level of productivity. Panther fans need to brace for this.

Fair point. Cam with 2 lost fumbles over 2 games vs. Kyle's 4 lost fumbles over 3 games. 1/game vs. 1.3/game and the latter has only been in 4 games and adjusting to NFL speed/play. Also would point out Kyle' qb rating of 107.4 to Cam's 71 which take into consideration all kinds of variables.

As Catamount has said if Cam's shoulder surgeries have messed him up or his foot issues are impacting his running the unfortunate reality is Cam is not that good. He needs to be 100% and able to run as that is what makes Cam great. No one is disputing that. What folks are concerned with is if Cam is really going to ever come back healthy. Again not just me but all media. Go youtube Cam and you will see many questioning the same.

how about just “girlfriend” instead of baby mama?

I don't see anything wrong with specifying that the girl he is with is the mother of his children, versus just some rando.

The common fan may not know Cam's personal life. Nothing wrong with baby mama.

Not a fan of Norv Turner. Not a real innovative offensive mind. Not at all sure why he was hired after his stint at San Diego

Ask yourself when was the last time you saw Cam in a photo, IG post, video, or press conference with with one of his kids.

You can debate Cam vs Kyle if you want. I like winners and in 2019, the Panthers have only one winning QB.

I do think the debate needs to be had about whether Cam is the guy moving forward. That's not necessarily a Cam vs Allen debate, but a Cam versus any capable replacement debate.
