FSU Game Time - 7:30 ACCN

ha, no way dude. you officially have more street cred than anyone here. That place is a murder house

You might get a discounted rate from the hookers that stay there. It would save them the trouble of walking across the parking lot to the glory hole adult store next door.

Sounds like you speak from experience. Do you have an account there?

My wife is from Mt. Airy. I'm from Raleigh, where we live now and do a lot of work in eastern NC. Based on the amount of Dook gear I see in those places, winning takes care of the elitism. Not disagreeing with you at all, I've just seen a lot of blue shirts worn by people who have never come close to attending any college.

So, you’ve been to the Mayberry Walmart. In your opinion, how does it compare to Walmarts in small eastern NC towns with respect to Duke shirts and people not coming close to attending college? My experience is that about all small towns are the same. I used to practice in Raleigh (many years ago) and did insurance defense all over the state before returning home to Andy Griffithville.

I sure have! About the same, although I don’t go to Walmart when I’m traveling in the eastern part of the state. I do go in Raleigh (I’m actually a big proponent of Walmart and their stock.)

My problem with parking is that we don't have assigned spots and then sell parking to people without passes. That's really annoying when you pay $75 for a season pass and then end up parking in the back of the lot when you get to the game late.

If they sold all the spaces for passes and you got there late you would be in the back also. We do have one of the best stadium parking access around for a limited use facility. State has superior parking with PNC used for 150 events/yr. Duke has no trouble because no one is there. UNC you park anywhere you can in town. At Joel, you pay $20 and walk across the street. Win, fill it, pay up and live the dream.

I clicked on my ESPN app at looked at the attendance for these games. I know as well as you do that the announced attendance isn't always "right". Just thought I would post these numbers just to show it isn't just Wake as we all know. I always find these things interesting as we like to eat our own sometimes when it isn't just Wake fans that are fickle as Ed Hardin likes to say.

The only time I've ever had any real issues was during games while the fair was going on.

Yeah, I left the Louisville game early because 1) we were down 21, 2) I live 1.5 hrs away and 3) I had to take care of two kids under 4 by myself the next day because my wife was working, so getting home at 2 AM wasn’t an option.

Then like why come to the game? I’m legitimately curious.

My problem with parking is that we don't have assigned spots and then sell parking to people without passes. That's really annoying when you pay $75 for a season pass and then end up parking in the back of the lot when you get to the game late.

Just trying to catch up with the conversation...

I still think our parking is pretty easily available and convenient, with or without a pass, unless the fair is going on. Pricing can be argued, sure.

Mostly we try to get there early enough to tailgate. Only 1-2 times have I/we arrived late and yeah, then you might have to park in some non-standard manner somewhere near the back of the lot. But only if it's a game vs a large school with lots of fans in the region (UNC, NSCU, etc.). But I don't consider that to be unexpected.

I see a lot of complaining on here about fans leaving early. And I get it. But I have to leave early sometimes, particularly for the night games. Just have other commitments that leave me not able/willing to get home too late. So why go at all? Because it's better to go to what part I can. I mean, I stayed for the whole FSU game and any game I'm not obligated to higher priorities.

I was actually pleased with how many fans stayed in the rain to the end. I've seen smaller crowds at the end in nice weather, sadly.

Anyhow, I certainly favor any adjustments that the school can execute that might make the game day experience more enjoyable/accessible. In general, I think it's a very good experience already. I do like the idea of creating better space (green sounds good, if possible) for tailgating/playing. I still think the biggest further draw will be to keep building a consistently winning program as we seem to be doing.

Of course, bigger crowds will exacerbate any parking concerns. But that's a good problem to have.

Relistening to parts of the game last night, I think Hasselback's comments on Taggert were pretty damning. During the broadcast, he mentioned that Taggert said out loud that there is nothing you can do to prepare to play in the rain. Granted, he did wait about a quarter before he mentioned that Clawson practiced ALL DAY with wet balls to prepare. He questioned play calls ALL NIGHT LONG.

Honestly, it was a horrific showing by Taggert. He got his jock handed to him in preparation by Clawson, and he has the worst offensive line blocking for a future NFL starting RB. Not only are all the 5stars neutered by a shitty OL, they are NOT well coached. They are missing assignments, they cannot even pick their QB off the mat on a missed block.

Conor brought up some great points as well in his game review - the timeout needed before the field goal cost them 35 seconds. It was not on the kicker. It was on the tardy O-Line. On top of that, he failed to prep the kicker by letting him kick the extra point on their touchdown. Honestly, that is the only error I think is understandable - it would have allowed them to go up 3.

But it appears they have shitty O-Line coaching and QB coaching. I hope Taggert is there forever - much like our opponents in hoops love Danny Manning.

feel like Taggart really screwed up on controlling the message from the get-go

he was never in a position to win big right away, and instead of preaching a long-term vision, seems like he's always making really dumb excuses and failing to control the items within the realm of controllability (substitutions, penalties, clock management, etc.)

Those App State numbers look iffy to me for some reason. That fucking place is packed to capacity every single game.

You think as many people that are on a football staff, someone would 1) suggest they prepare for wet balls when rain is in the forecast and 2) tell the coach to not trot out stupid excuses like we didn't handle hydration correctly, when you've probably got as big a nutrition and training budget as any team in the country and say we haven't played in many rain games, so there wasn't much we could do about it, when LOWF prepared for it with a couple of buckets and tap water. I mean those excuses may even be lamer than "we didn't make shots" or "we didn't pay attention to the scouting report" or "we need more paint touches."

And parking there is a damn nightmare.
Parking at App is horrendous but what’s helpful is their fans drive 2 hours up the mountain, take another 2 hours to park and get to game and Do Not complain. Wow. No wonder they are ranked higher than the Deacs. They have a very strong program. No wonder Clawson wants to regularly play them. I bet he thinks there are some things some of our casual fans could pick up on from Appy State.

oh no, the donk App defenders have logged on

Yup, hard pass on this shit. No reason to think we wouldn’t crush App this year no matter where they are “ranked”.

Taggart has problems that would literally be solved with the most plentiful resource on earth.

After the way Akers ran all over us the first half I could not believe FSU got the ball first in the second half and proceeded to go 3-and-out on 3 pass plays... Unbelievably stupid, I thought.
