Donald Impeachment

The failure to remove Trump will be sufficient, possibly not necessary, depending on how it goes down.

At least you've been honest. While we wait for this to go to the Senate what kind of faith/belief do you have that the Senate Republicans would actually vote to remove Donald. Hell what number of Senate Republicans do you think will vote to convict?

I'd be shocked if the number is greater than like 1.5. Romney may do it. Hard to envision anyone else breaking ranks at all. Collins will be severely "troubled" before ultimately voting not to convict on the basis that it's an election year and we should "let the people decide."

The House is always a clown show. There is still time for the Senate to redeem the Party and rid it of its disease.

Like having Lindsey "He's innocent and I won't read anything" Graham leading the Judiciary Committee. That's not a clown show.

Marsha Blackburn tweeting this morning, "Vindictive Vidman is the "whistleblower's" handler"?

Or Graham, Paul and others wanting to call the whistleblower to testify and destroy oversight for the next few decades?

Yep, you have a good shot at the Senate "redeeming" anything other empty soda cans.

Yes, the Senate, home of principled Republicans McConnell, Graham, Collins, Blackburn, Rubio, Scott and so-on.

The senate turning would be just as political/partisan move prompted by a final reading of the writing on the wall that supporting Trump is a career killer. it would not be some sort of moral decision.

Bolton certainly cockteasing on twitter now. Hoping he's got the goods, even if he is a warmongering piece of shit. I'm on his team right now.

I believe the votes will be there in the senate. I’m not confident in this, by any stretch, but I do believe it. I doubt the senate would remove on the present record, but I think someone like Bolton will come forward with a compelling narrative and change the calculus.

What makes you believe that any of these Republicans (Senate or House) would do the right thing even if it's obvious? I don't mean to be antagonistic but is there anything beyond wishful thinking given that over the last 3 years the GOP has just rolled over and let Donald do whatever he wanted?

Someone expecting Republican senators to do the right thing is more delusional than Trump himself.

The witness testimony has been simply devastating for Trump & Company since last Friday, yet virtually no House Republicans are willing to vote for impeachment. Instead they're deflecting, projecting, and spinning conspiracy theories full-force, as are virtually all right-wing media outlets. Trump's support with the GOP base is about as high as ever. As of now, I believe only 3 of the 53 Senate Republicans have said they're even willing to consider impeachment based on what they've heard so far, much less actually vote for it. Not to mention the fact that Senate Republicans have apparently met with Trump to plan their strategy for the Senate trial. And several prominent Republicans in these hearings, such as Nunes and Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, have themselves been found to have acted suspiciously, or consorted with people associated with this mess. Even if Bolton or Pence or Melania came forward with irrefutable video evidence of a quid pro quo (or that Trump was going to hire a Ukrainian hitman to kill Biden) the GOP and Fox and other right-wing media outlets would somehow excuse it all away. The odds of Senate Republicans voting to remove Trump is practically nil. He is the GOP now.

The veneer of GOP principle is as thin as Donald’s combover but Junebug is choosing to believe in Santa until the very last minute. And at the end of the day he’s got his judges so win win.

If Jesus, Moses, Abraham, Mary, Paul, Mark, Matthew and John came forward saying Trump committed hundreds of high crimes, this group of Republicans wouldn't convict him.

Junebug: #MitchWaitandSee

Serious question for Junebug.

Why do you think Will Herd doesn't see enough evidence for impeachment if you think it's fairly clear.
