Pinstripe Bowl vs Michigan State

At least a 7-8 win team from a major conference. 8 wins is big for us and it still feels like we are going to a minor bowl game that no one will remember. Even if we win this game then we still didn’t beat a team over .500.

No one remembers 97% of bowl games.

Do you remember Oregon’s record going to the Seattle Bowl?

8 wins is big for us but it's not big in general. We may not even end up ranked if we win.

I agree. I’m just a bit salty I guess. I am also just an ACC fan in general. Grew up in an ACC family and have a double-ACC partner. I want the national narrative to start to change because I think it’s a bit unfair. It won’t change if we’re just playing bad teams in bowls.

Cincy on the other hand is probably pissed at only getting to play 6-6 BC.

I'm sure the MSU fans are bitching about playing us and in a cold weather site to boot.

Well, yeah, that's why. Wake played in a historically bad ACC, beat nobody good, are ranked lower in Sagarin than MSU, and are 3-point underdogs.

The bowl opponent seems about right, all things considered.

Can you name the records of any of our previous opponents?

I’m not going to list them because it’s easy to just look that up online, but yes I know the record of every bowl opponent we’ve had since ‘06 and what they were ranked if they were ranked.

You’re the 1% then.

I’m also in the 1% of Wake fans that cares about football 100 times as much as b-ball as you might remember. I’m sure there are tons of Wake fans that could list facts about our NCAA tourney opponents over the years. It’s not that different.

One note about bowl locations. Sadly, the ACC is also a northeastern conference so going to NYC and Boston makes some sense.

Texas A&M was 7-5. Memphis was probably 9-3. Temple was maybe 10-2. I think Oregon was 6-6 and ASU was 7-4. I somehow don't remember Louisville's record.

EDIT - I thought I was in the 1% but somehow didn't even remember we played Mississippi State in the Music City Bowl in 2011 and don't really remember the EagleBank Bowl and Meineke Car Care bowls either.

We won a rematch with Navy in the EagleBank Bowl (Riley had a great game) and beat UConn in the Car Care Bowl (Kenneth Moore was MVP).

Cheapest ticket on the Wake site is $55. How much cheaper than that will they get elsewhere?

In my experience with many bowl games, both WF and non, much cheaper than that.

Critical injuries mean we were not beating Florida in the Orange Bowl. So, that would suck, the losing without ridiculously good Surratt and Strnad part. And we need the entire off season to fix kickoffs so watching UFL run back our kicks would be un fun.

Claw said we scored so much that Sciba got a tired leg for kickoffs? For Louisville and Syracuse?

Michigan State as our opponent is awesome, and we really need to focus and win.

Yankee stadium...that’s very cool.

Play every bowl game in warm locations, however.

We are not healthy enough to be having a great opponent this year. A top name opponent like Michigan State is perfect. Now we go up there and beat them and have 4 straight bowl wins!
