Danny Manning replacement search thread

Would Wes understand Wake academics? After all, he was at u*NC when secretary run and graded "classes" were readily available to basketball players. UNCG is unlikely to make US News and World Report top 100 very soon.

Maybe, maybe not, but his dad could pay for papers and tutors.

Has anyone bothered watching Forbes ETSU introductory press conference?

“Most of the time I’ve recruited Burger King All-Americans who wanted to kick McDonald’s All Americans ass.” Forbes >>>>>>>>> Wes

Yes it would have been significantly dumber to have hired Miller ten years ago. [name redacted] turned out to be a disaster but at that time he had achieved at least a modicum of success as a college HC. You’re comparing a hire that actually happened with one that didn’t using the benefit of hindsight. Hiring a guy with two years as an assistant at High Point college would have a horrible decision at the time.

Except it’s not hindsight because I was ACTUALLY saying it then. It was wise for sight. Decisions in life are judged by the results they produced. We made a bad one. And if we don’t hire Miller again it’s my prediction that 10 years from now I’ll be able to say we should have done so. Again.

I wasn’t talking to you.

But there was no evidence at the time that hiring Miller would have been better than hiring [name redacted]. It may well have turned out better, but given the optics available In 2010, it was choice between a current HC with at least some P6 success or an assistant with two years experience at High Point College. No P6 AD in the country would have hired Miller then.

I don’t fault Wellman one bit for not hiring Miller. I blame him for hiring [name redacted]

Also, check in with me in 10 years and we’ll see if your prediction came true.

But your track record on these boards is terrible. J Williams isn’t going to play, Pelphrey is the man, Beilein is the wrong call, High Point basketball is making bold moves, Kelsey is going to Xavier, etc.

None of this is me. And i'm pretty happy with my life track record, thanks.

And Shorty, yes, I will be back in 10 years. Miller will probably have 3 final fours at UNC by then. Ya'll will be angling and saying he's underachieving. We'll still suck.

Wes Miller has 3 final fours at UNC in next ten years ? C'mon man. You are talking out of your ass.

OK. It’s a date. The next time we’ll hear from you about Wes Miller will be spring of 2030. Talk with you then.

I like this guy. Recruit offense and coach defense. Man to man defense, rebounding, getting loose balls, and playing smart. Graduating players. Engagement with students, butts in seats, creating atmosphere. I mean, it's easy to say all these things your first day on the job but I'm pretty sure we could use many if not all of those facets by this point.

The JWill thing was 100% HGIHW. He says he saw him walking to class at Duke and he saw him limping or JWill told him he might not be able to go that night. It was all totally believable. No idea why he’d lie about that.

Turned out some other poster, with no cred, posted that JHo wouldn’t play that night and everyone called BS on the guy. Turned out JWill played and JHo didn’t.

Are the 3 final fours unofficially official?

This. I was outside of Cameron that day as well. It was not a lie. It was your typical pre-game rumor.

The light reflecting off of Forbes’ head blinded me and I was stuck listening to Pee Wee Herman introduce him.

No one claimed it was a lie, just another bad prediction. The lie was a few posts back when donaldross denied posting the j will rumor.

It was no lie. I posted exactly what I heard, where I was, and the context. And PH watched the whole thing. Just because circumstances changed doesn’t make what I said any less true.

But, hey, you do you. And Wake alums keep doing Wake alum things.

I love how donnie is acting like he is somehow different than other Wake alums, when he’s a bus stop bench ass lawyer in a small southern city. Textbook definition of a Wake alum.
