FUCK YOU, RON WELLMAN

That miserable pos is day drinking, reading this thread, and laughing. F you ronnie.

Short of breaking any laws, I hope that any WF fan who encounters Ronald in a public setting ridicules and embarrasses the hell out of him and makes him feel like the gigantic piece of shit that he truly is.

Those three were consensus high level recruits. They didn't all turn out well. Nobody knows if Skip's mentoring would have led to different outcomes. He seemed to have a knack for handling people.

Doubtful. Skip won early with Odom's players who already knew some basics of defense plus the 3 he had recruited already who had heart--Vytas, Taron & Levy. After that it was ALL offense for Skip and NO defense. Never taught help-side defense and never taught using the baseline as the 6th defender--two things that came back to haunt us many times in key games [like the NCAA game vs WVA].
And I had a player on the 2005 team tell me that defense was never stressed by Skip! 2 other coaching faux pas' I witnessed first hand from 8 rows behind the bench in that WVA game alone was Skip not knowing the Technical foul FT rule of when the 2 shots were shot & in what order. He sent Levy [a 50% shooter to the line for his FT's plus the T FT's which came first then due to the new rule that came into play a year earlier. I watched as both CP3 & JGray both tapped Skip on the shoulder telling him they wanted to shoot the first FT's & he sent Levy to the line anyway where he went 1-4.

Late in the game when we were clinging to a small lead in regulation, he called a TO & was calling a play for Big E. Except E was not one of the 5 players sitting on the bench in the game. Chris Ellis tapped Skip on the shoulder to tell him so. He had to change the play. Many times in the 2nd half Beilein outcoached Skip, changing his defenses coming out of TO's--moving his players up, changing to a zone and back & forth. Skip was baffled and our guards couldn't even get the ball into an offense until only seconds were left in the shot clock. Watched in horror as our 40-27 halftime lead whittled down to nothing. Watched Gansey go right down the middle as Ellis & Big E provided no help-side defense & watched Sally went baseline, never to be cut off. 105-111 loss in double OT. Yep RJ, the man could coach!

And the one man who knew that Skip couldn't coach winning tournament basketball!

Skip won a game in each of three NCAAT and made the Sweet 16 in another vs. GDO who won ONE ACCT game without Tim Duncan and quit on his team.

I believe Skip was something like 53-1 when leading with five minutes left in the game.

Of course your posts show why after twenty-five years of reffing you were still calling girls JV HS games.

Odom saved the program but his time was over. The game had passed him buy and he lost his mojo at Wake.

Skip got unlucky in a couple of tournament games but got us back on the right track and into the new style of the game.

Each was good at what they were there for at the time.

Don't see what it matters what GDO did with or without Duncan. Odom got Owens, Rogers, Childress, Blucas, Stan King & Doggett in his first class [our best class EVER] to get the program in the right direction. Got Duncan and he & his assistants trained him up into the 1st overall NBA draft pick. Won back to back ACC titles, averaged 20 wins per season over his 12 year Wake Forest career and after that third season never finished below 5th in the ACC--and that was long after Duncan left. Meanwhile Skip loses CP3, has what you yourself RJ called the best recruiting class in Wake history in Big E, JGray, Trent Strickland & Chris Ellis, who were all then seniors, and in 2006 finishes dead ass LAST in the ACC. So how in the world does your best last ever of 4 players finish last with great coaching???
Hmmmmmmmmmm. Then the next year finishes next to last. Because the guy did not coach defense & could not game coach!

Wellman quit on Odom just like he did on 3 time ACC title baseball winning coach George Greer! That is what happened at Wake Forest. But you tell it your way RJ. But facts don't lie. Skip was 3-13 & 5-11 in the ACC his final two years at Wake. Odom was 7-9 & 8-8 his final 2 seasons at Wake, winning an NIT championship and getting to the NCAA first round.

RJ, you just pulled that stat totally out of your ass with no back up of stats whatsoever. But good try. No way on earth that Skip was 53-1 in games when leading with 5 minutes left in the game. IN the 2005 NCAA tournament against WVa we were leading with 5 minutes to go in the game and lost that game due to his terrible game coaching. He never won a major college conference tournament. He got to the Sweet 16 once in 9 tries. When did he ever in a major tournament beat a higher seeded team? [I will give you 3 times at Wake his final 2 seasons--2006 when we were dead ass LAST & seeded 12th he beat #5 & #4 to get to the semi's in the ACC Tourney and then the next year in 2007 when seeded 11th we beat #6 GT then got trounced the next day by 19 points by #3 VT].

Let's go to his first 4 years at Wake with all of that talent he could not coach--2002, #3 seed & beat #6 GT then lost to #2 Duke by 25!. 2003, #1 seed and beat #9 FSU then got beat by #4 State [damn couldn't even get to the finals as #1 seed--GDO did it twice & WON!!! 2004, #3 seed and got beat by #6 MD. 2005, #2 seed and lost to #7 NC State then lost the ill-fated game as a #2 seed to the #7 seeded West Virginia in the 2nd r
You make up stuff about my college basketball officiating and you make up crap all the time on this message board. But there is no way on earth Skip was 53-1 when leading in the last 5 minutes of games when he lost 68 total games and he had about 5 OT games. Skip, a good guy--yes. Good with a quote--yes. High scoring basketball coach with exciting basketball--yes. Winning tournament basketball coach--NO!

I did not pull out that stat out of my ass. He had a record like that.

GDO was not a winning ACCT or NCAAT tournament coach without Tim Duncan...
