2019-20 College Basketball Thread

Landers Nolley transferring from VT. Devastating blow for the Hokies. He was their leading scorer and best player. Early on, looked like Nolley might be ready to jump to the NBA after this season. Looked like he was worn down by the end of the year.

Sounds like Jamie Newman.

Trey McGowens transferring from PITT.

Another one that surprises me.

Whoa. That's big loss for Pitt. For Pitt to at least to get the middle of the ACC pack, they need their decent players to stick around long enough to become difference-makers. Good news for WF as Pitt is the type of program that WF needs to better than to climb the ACC ladder.

Too bad we won't get to see them square off against each other. I can't recall the last time brothers played in the ACC for different schools at the same time. Maybe AFA and Alade?

Suratt v Suratt.

Good point. I was thinking solely in terms of MBB. Expansion should have made this more common but not a lot of names are coming to mind.

Yale's Jordan Bruner put his name in the transfer portal. He is a RS graduating junior who would be eligible immediately. Bruner is from Columbia, SC and is a 6-9 PF with pro potential. At UNC this year, Bruner scored 17 points and had 15 boards. Would love to get him. Would expect ACC schools to target Bruner.

He seems to a lot better than Yale guard.

He average 10.9/9.2/3.8 assists/1.7 blocks - he shot a respectable 32.3 on three.

If we can convince Sarr to stay, Bruner seems like a perfect partner for our frontcourt.

Hamilton may have been BC highest rated recruit in the Jim Christian era #75 in his class offered by KS, L'ville, Arizona, MD, tOSU among others. He went to BC to play with his older brother, Jared, who has graduated. He never really impressed for BC.

Alex O'Connell leaving Dook. Assuming Stanley and Carey also leave, Dook will have only 4 returning scholarship players. I see K taking a grad transfer or 2.

The brilliant people who vote on ESPN vote Shaq over Alcindor.

Of course, this is the same ESPN who had Trae Young in the their Top 64.

I don't see GT being involved with Nolley.
They recruited him in HS for awhile and were left with a bad taste in their mouths. He told them he only wanted to play on the wing and that if they recruited Nassir Little he wouldn't consider GT.

He's the one who committed to UGA and then decommitted less than 24 hours later. He also had his whole 32 team bracket on who he was considering.
Nolley will want a guarantee that he starts and does not have to play at the 4 wherever he goes.

Ryan Murphy will be going on his 4th school. He started at Charlott, then went to New Mexico Junior College, Then Pitt.

It would have been better if they had done a bracket for each decade and had a different voting platform. Boomers such as you and I don't live in the Twitterverse.

The Big South Player of the Year, Carlick Jones from Radford, is now in the portal as a grad transfer. A Cincy kid who didn't get much attention in HS. He'll be a good get for someone.
