I flew home from Madrid the day after this took place (March 8th). I could see the crowd going by from the window of my room. Things were already bad in Italy so I hunkered down. I self-quarantined for 14 days and am doing fine. Things began tightening here in the US on the day after I got home. Very surreal experience.

Those data are a mess, probably far more dependent on testing and reporting than on prevalence in the population. I’d wager they give some insight into the patterns but not any real specifics.

Glad you are safe. Chile is having a big outbreak in Santiago. They too had a massive "Women's Day" march on March 8th or thereabouts.

The mentality at work among these people really isn't that much different from their snake-handling church cousins: God and Jesus will protect us from harm. The idea that God also presumably gave you a brain so you'll be smart enough to do what's necessary at a time like this seems to be missing. Given that it's Florida and they have DeSantis as governor, I'd be surprised if anything happens to them.
