WF Basketball Transfers (In & Out): Jalen Johnson (UT) IN !!!!!!!!!

I'm shocked about Chaundee. Last time I spoke to him directly, albeit months ago, he loved being at Wake Forest and there was no sign he had any intentions of leaving. To me 1 of 2 things are happening, Manning knows he is getting fired or Manning is intentionally burning down the program to complete shit out of spite.

To quote Chevy Chase in his reply to his lovely wife Ellen " WORSE? We re already at the gates of HELL"

if we don't have any scholarship players that means we have more paid students. $400k of cash savings! Brilliant strategy to play the COVID19 long game by hatch.

In the yet another slap in the face category, Jalen Johnson is transferring from Rocky Top to play for Steve Forbes at ETSU. He was a former Wake target and would have filled Chaundee's role rather well.

In: Isaiah Wilkins (via Tabor / VaTech)

I’d expect him to be eligible immediately (just like everyone else). Fantastic freshman year and then pretty bad sophomore year.

Fantastic freshman year? LOL, averaged 4ppg and 2 rpg frosh and soph year, he is not an ACC caliber player.

While I am close to your opinion with this but I'm pretty sure Numbers is referencing his shooting percentages, which were actually good. But from a raw numbers perspective he has been unimpressive and his shooting percentages tanking last season is very alarming to any hope on that front from the first season.

Doesn't even appear to have had a Composite Ranking in 247, so he'll fit right in on our little band of misfits.

He was encouraged to transfer by Mike Young. Wilkins was told that he didn't fit with Young's style of play. He essentially agreed with Young and doesn't have any hard feelings toward him. Sounds like he will be a good teammate and possible immediate contributor.

Yeah he had a 118 offensive rating on 16.7% usage for a top 15 team in KP.

The only player Wake has had who had a better offensive rating for a single season between 16-20% usage over the last decade is Doral Moore’s junior year.

Yeah. Shooting decrease is concerning to say the least. He’s basically every other 16-20% usage player Wake has had on the team for a decade going off his sophomore year.

IIRC, he was a likely redshirt his freshman year until Chris Clarke was suspended from the team. What he contributed that year was a pleasant surprise. Last season he did seem to be lost at times.

Maybe the next move for the NCAA with all this movement is trading players between schools.

In the 70s, Tark effectively traded PF Jimmie Baker from UNLV to Hawaii. Baker would have loved to have been able to leave after his first year at UNLV. He averaged 22/15. Then, his life spiraled out of control and he got traded.

If you first name is Isaiah or your last name is Wilkins, I feel like you already have a leg up on most people when it comes to basketball. If you name is Isaiah Wilkins then watch out world!

Also, Wilkins must not have gotten the super secret coded message from Chaundee Brown that Manning is going to be fired ....any day or year now!

Wilkins was largely a non-factor this past year at VT. He did score 11 in a blowout loss in Cameron this past year. He's got solid size: 6-4 225. According to 247, Wilkins had two offers coming out of HS: VT and High Point.

Wilkins was a role player for a Sweet 16 team as a freshman. He's not going to capault us to relevance, but he should make a positive impact.

Given that Buzz Williams saw enough to offer him, he deserves some benefit of the doubt.

Pretty sure I read that Buzz had planned to redshirt him before an injury bumped him up the chart. If that's the case, Buzz always saw him as a major development prospect, and after two years of development, Young told him he doesn't have a place for him on the team. If Mike Young and Buzz couldn't turn him into a player, Danny Manning certainly won't. Only other offer was High Point.
