I read Lolita a couple years ago and I recommended that my wife read it during the quarantine. When she finished she just turned to me and said “what the fuck man”

I teach Lolita often. It's a really tough one to get kids to talk about, but shit it's so so good. I can't think of many more interesting narrators in english literature than hh

I did something new last semester and we spent a day on descriptive bibliography and talked about the history of the novel's cover art. Check it out:

Also, I’ve got an interesting 1955 first American edition, with not fucked up cover art (with mismatched impression numbers — eleventh printing/fourteenth impression — a variant not listed in the bibliography)

My local PBS Explorer channel has been rebroadcasting old Met Opera performances in the morning (nice). Most of them have been from last season, but today is a 2017 of La Traviata, Sonya Yoncheva as Violetta and Michael Fabiano as Alfredo. But my GIRL Isabel Leonard is hosting. Damn, she is fine. I wish she was singing, but whatever, I saw both of her most recent Met Opera big gigs.
