WF Basketball Transfers (In & Out): Jalen Johnson (UT) IN !!!!!!!!!

Nice article Conor. Forbes just seems about 1000% more interesting as human being than Manning or Jeff b. He sure seems like he can coach too

C'mon 76, you've known me for 47 years. You know I don't know anybody or have been anywhere or done anything. Of all people, you should know this.

What a breath of fresh air Forbes is. He gave more info in that interview than dumbo Danny did in 6 decades. I mean years.

Some people think Phil Jackson could coach...and Rudy T....

Tallest coach to win the NCAA title since 2000 was Kevin Ollie at 6’2” (and he was NOT a good coach). The average height of those coaches is 5’9”. Historically, tall guys can’t coach. Not the hill your old arrogant ass wants to die on. Phil Jackson and John Thompson are the exceptions to the rule.

“I’ve got 625 unanswered text messages in my phone, still,” Forbes said. “And I can’t even look at them because I don’t have time. That makes me feel bad because there are a lot of friends and people in there that I like and trust and want to respond to, but my energy can’t go in that direction right now.

“It has to be the roster.”

This was my favorite part of the interview too. Love everything about his answer. Bothers him, would love to hear from those folks, but he’s focused and pouring every minute into the job. Guy’s a winner.

Watched Antonio's highlights from last season at UNLV. He has NBA range. He also hit from all five "spots" on the court. The ball does not stay in his hands long. He is a catch pass, take shot guy. His shot is gone quicker than you can read the previous sentence. He also seems to have a very liberal definition about what being open enough to shoot means.

Gotta give props to his team mates for finding him all alone away from the action for open shots.

Every team needs a guy like that.

You wonder why things get ugly here? It's posts like yours. There was no antagonism in my post, but you have to act like a classless dick.

Let's look at some other 6'3+ coaches who weren't bad:

Doc Rivers (NBA Champion)
Kevin McHale
Rudy T (2 NBA Championships)
Don Nelson
Fred Hoiberg
Rick Carlisle
Mark Pope (went 24-8 his first year at D1)
Bill Russell (won NBA championships as coach)
Juwan Howard looks like a good coach

There are less big guys. So, there will be fewer coaches. Also, big guys don't usually have skills like smaller guys.

Also it's not that "tall guys can’t coach". It's that they don't try on the same level. Saying "they can't" is a totally BS concept.

Yeah, I’m going to need you to explain this further.

Add Pat Riley to the list. Don Nelson was a great coach for a number of years. At one time, he was the winningest coach in NBA history. He may still be.

Yeah, I’m going to need you to explain this further.

Although you are being snide and snarky, I'll be civil to you.

Even in today's game, bigger guys don't handle the ball, pass, move as much, shoot off the dribble, play the same type of D and many other things guards and swing players must master. Also, guards learn more about integrating bigs than bigs learn about ball and player movement.

There's a bigger learning curve for most true bigs than for smaller guys.
