WF Basketball Transfers (In & Out): Jalen Johnson (UT) IN !!!!!!!!!

Iowa State could land Chaundee and Foreman and shoot all the way up to 15-17!

a kid narrowing down his college choices to Berekley California, Santa Barbara California and Ames Iowa strikes me as kinda funny. Just shows you that most of these guys are making basketball decisions and other things just don't matter as much.

Kind of bummed about this. I speculate Forbes didn't even go after him. I really feel that we need a veteran ball handler who can knock down end of game free throws who is eligible immediately. He fit that need. There really aren't any others out there that I know about.

So I'm assuming Johnson/Polish dude and one other. Not holding my breath on Mac. Wouldn't break my heart if we don't get him but he'd definitely bring some energy back to the Joel once he's eligible.

Maybe I'm really selling Watson and/or Adams short or maybe RJ is correct and Neath will play 32+ mpg.

But we need Neath to stroke it 78-82% from the line if nothing else.

If Neath can build and grow as quickly as he did towards the second part of the year then he could be seriously good for us, and at least an ACC average replacement guard next year.

I think his style will work very well in the 1-4, 5-out offense that Forbes ran last year (assuming he runs something similar). That offense is perfect for Neath's skillset.

I agree. In addition, I could see DuBose handling the ball some as well, as it looked like he did a lot of that at HB. He was a 78% FT shooter last year.

Agree. For a freshman last year, Neath made freshman mistakes, but showed real promise. In our victory over Duke, he had a great game. His size allowed him to take serious contact at the rim and finish plays.

After years of seeing Wake guards drive the rim and get embarrassed repeatedly, it was nice to see. Neath will really stand out next year.

Oh yeah, Iowa State so terrible that they have only made the NCAAs 7 times in the last 9 years. Won 2 Big12 tournaments under their current coach in the past 4 years, beating Kansas, they must really suck.

Iowa State has had some strong seasons recently, but they are trending in the wrong direction. The last 3 years they are:

- 2018: 13-18 (4-14)
- 2019: 23-12 (9-9) First round NCAA tourney loss
- 2020: 12-20 (5-13)

They lose 3 starters including their stud soph Tyrese Halliburton who is heading to the NBA. While their program has been light years ahead of WF over the last decade (who hasn't been?), if I am transferring to a school to play in the NCAA tourney in 2021 or even 2022, it would not be Iowa State.

Hearing some possible academic eligibility concerns regarding Watson. Hopefully this blows over because he will certainly get some important minutes this season. Staff is making a hard push for McClung in general, but if there are concerns regarding Watson, then McClung becomes even more important.

We need him to be at 75% or more and to control the offense. He needs to take the reins.

It will be interesting to see how the PT is divided at 2/3 there.

Good luck Chaundee!

Is there a reasonable expectation that McClung could get a waiver to be eligible next year? He isn't graduating. G'town didn't even have a coaching change (like Sarr); G'town wanted him back (unlike Wilkins); and while WF is marginally closer to home than G'town, Gate City is still about 3 hours from Winston. I get that the NCAA is likely to be more lenient granting waivers this year, but unless "WF would be a lot more fun to watch if McClung is playing" becomes a waiver criteria, I don't see any ground for a waiver in McClung's case.

I don’t think he will (or should) get a waiver either. If there’s eligibility issues with Watson, he will most likely end up at another school before he ever arrives at Wake. So it might not help Wake next season, but the season after that it would be huge to have McClung. Watson could, and will hopefully end up fine, but the staff is still making McClung a major priority.
