WF Basketball Transfers (In & Out): Jalen Johnson (UT) IN !!!!!!!!!

It’s gonna be really weird watching a team of Mucius, Neath, Massoud, Ody, and like 5 grad transfers in the rotation.

I can’t recall a squad with that many grad transfers in the rotation.

I mean, assumes we get 2-3 more beyond Dubose and Antonio.

Not many teams have the losses Wake had. Now 3/4 would-be freshmen signees. Last two would-have-been seniors gone. Two would-have -been juniors gone. Plus one guy who left so long ago in this season that we forget he was at Wake (Jamie Lewis).

By my count that means eight scholarship guys are gone from the originally* projected 2020-2021 roster.

* As of signing day November 2019.

The true upside is that Forbes gets to make the team all his recruits a hell of a lot quicker than normal.

Downside is, getting to throw blame for any adversity with the roster/recruiting back on DFL has a much, much shorter window than it otherwise would.

I would think the NCAA has to grant all of our transfers a waiver considering the circumstances. If it were not for the pandemic, I believe Forbes would have gotten our original commits on campus and rallied the troops. He's been at a huge disadvantage with kids being away from campus with the wrong people in their ears and a lot of time alone to think. I don't think we lose as many scholarships if it weren't for the pandemic. The NCAA has to know this!

I don't think that helps Wilkins, though. It could help that Young basically told him to transfer. I don't know how that works, but it definitely happened before the pandemic went into high gear.

The fact that Young told Wilkins to transfer is one of the reasons a waiver is granted. Returning to his hometown won't hurt. I think he will qualify.

Brown and Sarr may influence waivers for incoming Wake transfers. Neither have a legit reason to be given a waiver, however they are going to schools that are NCAA cash cows. In the interest of consistency, maybe everyone coming or going from Wake gets a waiver. I doubt this happens but it would benefit everyone involved. It's not like the NCAA has a rule book that governs everyone.

Bring in 2-3 more grad transfers and still have room for a big 4-5 2021 class.

I’m OK with a couple of traditional transfers... Otherwise we’ll go from a team of all new seniors to a team of all new freshmen next year.

But my caveat is always that Forbes knows better than I do.

Really going to be interesting to see how the NCAA considers Chaundee transfer waiver vs Saar's transfer because of the big difference in the two. Saar announced his transfer after Manning was fired. Brown announced his transfer one week before and gave his reasons as wanting to play for a winner. No problem with his reasoning in this transfer era. BUT, he was part of the problem per se since he was here for those losing years and thus helped to cause them. Plus he chose to announce before the actual firing. May not matter in the end but I think that is a huge difference.

Wake in Daivien Williamson's top 5 with SDSU, Georgetown, BYU, and Tulsa.

He'll probably go to Tulsa as a sick reverse jinx. Seriously sign this dude immediately.

Yet you guys still believed $18M...

You don’t piss people off because of the stuff you say (for the most part), but for the amount of times you do the “I’m right, and everybody else is wrong” strategy. Nobody likes a person that’s right, and won’t let you forgot it instead of just moving on. You have said the same things over and over again when they aren’t warranted. Kind of exhausting. We get it, you think it’s 18 mil.

I think you may be right about the contract. Seems like 18 million is a stretch and Currie did seem to shoot that theory down. Just weird how Goodman seems adamant that it’s 18 million, and frankly, I trust his sources a little bit more than yours. That’s why I want to believe your number, but also know that both 18 million and a number lower than that are possibilities.

It’d be a real bummer to miss out on Williamson. Best conference of any of those schools, ex-coach, hometown.

Heaven for bid you call him out on it. His sensitive ways will show. He’s a fucking douche and everyone in his industry knows it.
