F is for Fascism (Ferguson MO)

That right there is just a big spotlight of why protests are happening. Background to that is supposedly they were driving through and an officer told them to stop because they were getting too close to the police, they stop them, tell them let me see your hands, the driver reaches into his pockets to get a cell phone, probably to record it, and that’s when they bust the windows and tase them. There’s another news shot with an officer telling them I almost shot you, I almost shot you as they are led off in handcuffs.

Tough call, what do we want the police to be doing now? I want them to get people off the streets without killing them. Tons of looting going on right now, and everyone's ordered to get off the streets.

I don't know the answer to the question, but if there's an order in place to not be outside, does that extend to the press?

I don't know the answer either, but I'd personally rather have police violence more visible than not - so in that case, I'm glad to have members of the press violating the letter of the law. Even still, don't think they need to be pepper sprayed while on the ground.

Also, if the purpose of the law is to prevent property destruction, why "light up" a family on their porch?

Cops are using pepper spray like a condiment. Just sprinkle a little bit on the media after they’re down.

MSNBC’s Ali Velshi reported a similar interaction with police. Said the protests were peaceful until the cops showed up. They were trapped by the cops. They had their hands up and yelled they were media. And a cop said “We don’t care” and fired on them.

Yeah, I think there's multiple examples of police actually escalating situations around the country tonight.

As you see footage on TV of people looting, just remember that two months ago Congress passed a $2,000,000,000,000 bill to bolster the economy and get us through this pandemic.

Some Americans maybe got $1200.

That's the plunder and looting I'm more worried about right now. We cannot forget the broader context of what we see right now. These conditions have been created by the police, by governments, by business leaders taking power away from people.

Emergency crews and other first responders are exempt from this curfew. The curfew also makes exemptions for members of the media. Also, people traveling directly to or from work, fleeing dangerous situations, or experiencing homelessness are not subject to the curfew.

People also should be getting about $2,400/month in unemployment too, but the Pubs want that to go away.

Sure I get the problem with income inequality in the country. Generally feel that taking an antagonistic approach to the police can't possibly be the answer, and isn't going to help anything whatsoever. The local news feed of what's going on about a mile or two from where I live generally suggests the police do need to be cracking down right now. I guess the national guard is coming in an hour, though.

I mean, from what you have posted on these boards, I don't think the people smashing shit are as comfortable financially as you (just guessing from Wagyu beef posts, not trying to be a dick). I'm guessing they don't have the stability to be concerned with the answer, but rather are just looking for an answer.

Whomever gave him that info needs to be fired.

Cops need to be arresting these looters.
Like I said arrest records should be public information and tell the story one way or the other
