To share more widely - this happened to one of our local organizers and leaders in the black community:

N&R has removed the video, but no word on the other demands:

Monday evening I attended the action downtown to make sure folx had the information they needed for bail support since the curfew would be enforced.

News & Record irresponsibly filmed me sharing my contact information to provide bail support which led to my home and life being targeted by white supremacist.

They not only posted the video but ignored the comments made by racist white people and didn’t see that as a concern. It was viewed over 200k times....

My immediate ask for the editors at News & Record are as follows.

1. You immediately remove the video from your page.

2. You issue a public apology to both myself and the Black residents of Greensboro for your careless journalism and danger you put Black lives in. This apology needs to come in the form of both social media AND print.

3. You make a $1000 donation to the Greensboro bail fund as my phone was flooded with calls and threats while Black folx were also trying to contact me for bail funds. I did not have the autonomy to ignore calls from unknown numbers that night as I made a commitment to the Black people in this city. Your actions disrupted our attempts to keep Black people out of jails.

4. You provide space for me to write an op-Ed about the dangers of irresponsible journalism during uprising to Black lives.

In my somewhat brief experience on this Earth, I have observed that protest movements are more or less consistent over time. Whenever I hear about protest tactics like "concrete milkshakes," "brick trucks," "organized antifa looting," etc. there is a decent chance that this shit is completely made up because the tactics themselves have just remained so consistent over time.

What hasn't remained consistent over time? 1) White supremacists and right wing insurrectionists are feeling more empowered than they have been in about 50 years and are becoming increasingly visible/present as a result. 2) Increased funding for police and sheriffs departments has resulted in them acquiring military-grade weapon and surveillance technology.

I'm sure that the two are related, but it's important to keep in mind that journalism is pretty miserable right now, mainly existing to stoke white fear and resentment, and the (obvious) hoaxes have been piling up in the most predictable ways.
 
Glad Chauvin got upgraded to second degree. I was surprised that's not where it started. Third degree is an easy conviction IMO and I'd guess (don't know Minnesota specifics) that they can still have third degree and manslaughter as lesser included offenses for the jury. The second degree is a more interesting case overall but I still think is a win for the prosecution with the right tactics.

Looks like good journalism by NBC here. Thinking of the poor intern having to look at Google Streetview having to corroborate the information.

I'm holding you to the fire a bit here: I read the leaked FBI report in the article you sent last night and "civilian cars dropping off bricks according to MPD" was one of the bullet points. Is it possible that the situation was different in Washington D.C. rather than the cities listed in the article, or do you think MPD was lying about this?
