Better Call Saul, The Mafia Game. Indies Win! Gooner, GAT and Duff

Also I have suggested this several times and not heard much response, so as the Ultimate Authority on Ethical Mafia Play I hereby decree fake dumbtelling is now an appropriate mafioso stratagem. Go for it fuckers. I see a full third of you don't really know what dumbtell means anyway, another quarter (some overlap) are just dumb so it's not dumbtelling, it's just telling. Carry on!

1) how dare you
2) Manning is probably in a different shape than a circle, or a different color or maybe just a different plane of existence altogether, not so much different as the same but better. Webster’s dictionary defines sublime as

I can’t decide if I fully agree with this or am just salty I was on the wrong end of it. I do agree that Gat should not have both been the traitor of our mafia and in control of Nacho (Toogs). We couldn’t message toogs and had to rely on Gat for the back and forth. It did not end up mattering in this game as we did not really use toogs to help our mafia, but I could see that being a big problem.

Anyway, just want to say again that this game was fun, thanks to the mods.

The issue is that its a hidden mechanic that fucks everyone not involved. There is no way to discover it, and no way to guard against it. He wasn't prevented from making hits or anything at all suspicious. No risk all reward. Extra knowledge that no one had any way of figuring out. It's dumb. Sour grapes but I don't think I'm wrong.

This is true.

Hell Bym guessed I was a traitor just due to show, which also makes sense for Mike, but typically our themed games do not rely on show knowledge. In this one, show knowledge was an advantage for sure

In fact Mike as Indy makes the most sense, and I dabbled with it in my simulator once I knew Gat was Mike. turns out I wasn't really wrong, just wasn't right either.

We respect your game esp mafia hunting, and thought your "attitude" had a smell of civ special or power player.

I also disagree about your ideas on power circles. I think that was true once, but not any more. This community is actually very deep and strong and nearly anyone can die early or live late. The only power circles are demonstrated below, and the diagram also speaks to the other thing you are wrong about: policy lynches, and the manning one in this game specifically.

So you’re saying you respectfully listen to parlay, ph, mako, and I who all live late into games as equally as you do gooner, gat, eagles, and ryala?

We role-copped you the night they killed you because we thought you were something, fwiw

im not a huge fan of alignment-changing or misleading roles in general. the more I play and the more I mod the more I’m in favor of more basic setups.

like I really feel for you guys - you busted your asses and Tim even set an 830 alarm (showed at like 945 but it’s the thought that counts!) and you get the rug pulled out. Just know that you’re all the real winners in my heart.

Oof PH not so much but yes to the rest. Mako has become a fantastic player. Ryala sucks now. These things shift.

I for one will admit I have a bias on which voices I listen to, and which I choose to ignore, and which I think are worth it some of the time

WONT SAY WHO THOUGH

Also gat gets late a lot (see this game?) and is very dangerous when he does

cant argue this. I didn’t do anything particularly well this game. Just had more info than most anyone else in a game about info. I just had to keep the car out of the ditch.

Question tho: if I vote gooner in that last round do you feel this way?

I mean stay with me here but this has been my experience. I've played in a lot of games of all types and while the community loves to be told a story (this game was being told a story, my TDK game was, as are many others) my most enjoyment playing is in standard open or near-open setups. It's a lot like my time and money spent on fine dining; I have eaten at some of the "best" restaurants in the world but at this point I'd really rather have a nice bowl of pho or perfect fried chicken.

That's for sure true, everyone has their biases. I was decrying the "circles of power" theory not individual biases.

which one of these is not like the other? I’m e-friends with Toogs outside of mafia so it’s a bit different. but I’m easily the worst player in that list. Like by a wiiiiiiiiiiiide margin.

Oh yeah that comment wasnt made at you

I actually think you are in a weird place where you dont actively play in the "circles of power" but often get dragged in because there is a certain group of people who follow and trust you

I do think QT has a point, though I dont take it as far. I think there are certain groups of people who (whether intentionally or not) form these circles that become "circles of power" because their ideas, when piled on top of each other, end up dominating everything.

Meh, I like the theme games. They are definitely more taxing and require people be available more. I feel there is a chance for burnout of some, which is why getting to 30+ for most games is impossible (and easier for people to sneak through without doing much) and probably won't happen every week, but I try to enjoy it when it can. This weeks game was definitely more Zahav and less Federal Donuts. Or maybe more Wiseguy, less &pizza. Or potentially more Per Se and less Los Tacos #1. Might be too deep of restaurant takes here.

I dont know where you think I stand on this (though I have my guess...haha) but I think this might be a good answer

a little more on policy lynch: manning actually played, and talked like a normal fucking human being, in vain as the policy lynch was happening no matter what. But you see that's how policy lynches work; if he keeps it up, he can be redeemed. we used to (at least I tried to) plynch gooner and look what a fine young man he has evolved into.
