F is for Fascism (Ferguson MO)

That's terrifying. How can any person in good conscience tell a black person they should trust the police, when police culture is so contigious with white supremacy and anti-black terrorism

And now they're just going to join their local white nationalist group and plan how they're going to start "slaughtering ni*****".

The only way to fix that is to change the job.

Largely agreed. The reason there are a lot of asshole cops isn’t because a few people out of everyone are assholes. The reason is authoritarian power hungry pricks are attracted to a profession that gives them the ability to act as they please. This is not that hard to understand.

The 4th person died yesterday from the shooting at the Juneteenth party. 181 shell casings were found in the area from the shooting. That is more black deaths than from CMPD shootings in all of 2019 (justified or not). Yet none of the 400 witnesses have come forward with material information and nobody has protested it, yet there are obviously plenty of active protesters in the area. Why is BLM not pushing for this to be investigated as a hate crime when someone shot up a cultural holiday event? Why don't all black lives matter?

So the guy that threw him down wasn't even supposed to be there, he just heard something on the radio and decided to show up, look around, and throw a dude to the ground?

It's definitely a problem that communities don't trust police to handle crime investigations!

The theme of the silent march the next day was "Black Lives Won't Matter To Others Till they Matter To Us" The march started with about 25 people and grew to about 50. Relatives are calling for people to speak up, but it's not happening. This thing got way out of hand and I suspect police were reluctant to break up an unauthorized street party with 400 people at 12:30 AM due to the recent protests. People were drag racing and doing donuts in the street, and there was a hit and run incident. And then when local EMTs responded, the police had to pull people off their backs for some reason. Biggest mass shooting in Charlotte history.

So 2&2 and Biff are complaining that people were killed, police don’t know who did it, but they’re trying to find out so they can arrest and charge them for it.

Others are complaining when people are brutalized and killed, police did it, and nobody is trying to arrest and charge them.

Is that even true ? Pretty sure four were charged in the Floyd killing. Cop was charged in Atlanta. Police officer was convicted of seocnd degree murder in the Laquan McDonald killing. Vigilantes were charged in Brunswick. Cop was fired in Louisville, seems like just a matter of time before charges come down. Valdosta PD being sued for $700K for above video. None of these things occurred due to complaints on this message board. And yes, I realize that POC continue to be targeted by law enforcement and hope that we are at the start of a major change in that regard.

For Laquan McDonald, Anita Alvarez sat on police video for a full year and was not going to do anything until the tape was made public and public pressure mounted.

The four officers were charged following Floyd's murder because public pressure mounted.

The protests and actions are driving the state to do the right thing - DAs and police forces aren't doing the right thing on their own absent public pressure

The inability of black communities to trust the police leaves those communities even more vulnerable to crime. Its a tragic circumstance 150+ years in the making.

I will say that it is pretty shocking the lack of media coverage of a mass shooting at a black cultural celebration compared to the coverage of the police brutality cases. It's all abhorrent, and I'm not minimizing the issues with law enforcement in this country, but gun violence continues to be a much larger issue, for all races. I like Biden's published plans for gun control, but have a hard time feeling confident he'll accomplish much given the lack of movement after Sandy Hook. Hope so.
