That's why I asked...he's got it...he may be protected, but we don't know that for sure. How about his wife or kids?

Houston is reporting as many as 30% of those tested are positive.

Solid honest and universal headline when the article refers only to protest data and one party from Whatcom County, Washington. How do the Atlanta numbers match up with those?

Also strong move by Cooper yesterday with his statewide mask mandate specifically listing 10 settings in which masks are required, but conspicuously omitting mass protests from the required locations. Clearly his order is in the best health interests of the public.

Let me google that for you:

Appears to be A) a little too early to tell definitively, much to the chagrin of Republicans who want it to happen, but B) early results of likelihood of COVID spread from protests is very, very low. Birdman, feel free to interject here.... But, this appears to be because most people are wearing masks. Anecdotally, I attended several protests and all people were wearing masks. Which is the point of my post to Sailor: your GOP wants to blame protests, not their President or VP, to deflect blame and not take responsibility. Again, if Trump would wear a mask and encourage the nation to do so, this miss would decline.

Parks and Rec predicted the future. Pawnee was rural Trump country before Trump.

Yes. Yes, it was.

Parties, not protests, are causing spikes in COVID:

Good call.

If Trump wore a mask, it would model to his followers that it's ok for them to wear one, too. But he doesn't because he's an objectively awful person, thus causing the body count to rise. And here we are.

No kidding. All he needed to do was create a red MAGA mask, all the rubes would have seen him wear it on Fox News, would have done the same, and boom we get organized sports. This is why we can't have nice things.

Shit - he could sell them himself and make money off of it. Maybe that is the key - don't even relate it health/protection/doing the right thing. Just tell him it's a way to scam money from dumb people.

That was 1 of the things I loved about Parks and Rec - the realism of public meetings. I used to be on a city board, and we'd get wingnuts on both sides alleging things that weren't true and screaming at us. And we'd often go out for multiple beers afterwards. And we unfortunately had no April Ludgate who could stare, talk down and intimidate the general public. My favorite Parks episode was the Sister City episode with Fred Armison playing the Venezuelan parks director asking where were the armed guards who should come take these members of the public off to jail.

The other great public meeting farce was an episode of Who Is America? with Sasha Baron Cohen going to Kingman AZ as his NPR character and proposing to build the biggest mosque in the country in Kingman as a tourist attraction. The responses he got were priceless. Pretty amazing to see what Cohen could get people to do on that show.

Public health is now partisan.

I don't have my TI calculator handy, so someone will have to tell me what 16/302 is:

It's slightly more than 5%. It's also slightly less than 60% of the players (30 x 17 -2 of those guys are the taxi squad).

EDIT: If that's the number for players who are planning to be in Orlando rather from the entire league, it's probably close to 75% of players expected to complete the season.

9000 new cases in FL today. I doubt the NBA happens. Our leaders failed us.

Still would like to see the NBA move from Orlando with all the rona that's going on in FL. But I'm hoping they can pull off finishing the playoffs. But I'm losing hope for the NFL and even more so for college football. One of the morning sports talking heads today suggested college coaches may want all of their players to contract it this summer so teams could get herd immunity. I just don't see how you can prevent most football teams from having large outbreaks and disrupting seasons. I mean we've already seen 5 golfers withdraw from tournaments after only 2 weeks because they or their caddies got the rona, and that's the safest sport there is.
