Video Game Thread - $70 Zelda Expansion!

The original Hyrule Warriors came out in 2014 for the Wii U.

Finished Tsushima. Loved it. The short load times really help the experience and are making me look forward to the next gen consoles.

Now trying to get back into RDR2. It's turning a corner for me, I think -- starting to get into it.

I really liked Tsushima as well. Great game. And the quick load times were incredible. Quicker than any game I've ever played.

I played RDR2 when it first came out and thought it was fun, but there were defs things I didn't like about it. Went back earlier in quarantine to play it again and I just couldn't get into it a second time.

90 days later and I still haven't touched Outer Worlds because I'm 150 hours deep into the Borderlands series. These games are just insanely fun. And my fiancee has given her approval for naming our future first dog Butt Stallion.

I got like 60 or 70 hours into Outer Worlds and there was a file failure following an update that crashed and deleted all of my progress in the game. It happened to a number of other people following the same update according to the googles and lots of people were super pissed off. I can't bring myself to play it again because I'm still pretty salty about it.

any word on when/if Tony Hawk is coming to Switch? I gots to get it. I googled and looks like there were some Switch controller diagrams in some programming file but that's all I can see.

that's what happened to me and Fallout 4. glitch wouldn't let me finish the final quest and i had no saves from before the "pick an ending" decision

fuck that game

No idea about TH PS 1 +2 and the switch but my 8 yo and I picked it up for ps4 this weekend and spent some good time rocking out. Timing was off but muscle memory kicked in pretty quickly.

Oh shit dude, that sucks. Was this on PC, or were consoles affected too?

This was on PS4. Not sure if it was only an issue with PS or if it affected other platforms as well, but I think I was just looking at PS forums to figure out the issue and if there was something I could do to fix it (there wasn't).

I'm playing Portal 2 for the first time and it's awesome. Can't get enough Cave Johnson! I also just finished the Mass Effect trilogy, I enjoyed that (story more than gameplay but that's fine) quite a bit. I'm not some young guy that was too young to play these when they came out, I just...never played them. I tried Wasteland 3 but bounced off pretty quickly. Thinking of maybe doing Disco Elysium or Divinity OS2 after this, but I'm worried about bouncing off those too. I kind of don't have the patience for heavy micromanagement RPGs anymore, even though I know both are incredible games.

Just a heads up, Disco Elysium is relatively core-intensive if you're planning on playing it on PC. I built a gaming computer about 5 years ago and couldn't run it. It is coming out for Playstation in mid October, but I'd check with https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri before buying it if you haven't upgraded your computer in a while.

Oh I misunderstood various sites, I thought it was already out for Xbox/Switch. I'll wait for it on console.

that's pretty surprising, I thought it was a conversation heavy/dialogue tree RPG. Why is that so resource intensive?

it's pretty great; it's startling how 1-1 it is, with the exception of adding stuff like manuals to TH1. Just fire it up and skate through the levels, just like you did back when you were a kid.

Anyone have a hot tip on how to snag one of the Nvidia 3080 graphics cards coming out tomorrow?

That looks cool. Their take on the Harry Potter theme sounds a lot like the Avengers theme in terms of what notes they emphasize.

Excited about the PS5 release. I don't know if I'm ready to give up discs to go all-digital. I know that's where things are headed. There's some speculation Nintendo is being stingy with physical copies of Super Mario 3D All-Stars this weekend because they want people to download it.

Pre-orders start tomorrow. I signed up for the Sony pre-order slots. Apparently they haven't given out any information yet. I'm going to go ahead and check the usual places tomorrow to pre-order.

Probably going to go with the Series X close to launch, particularly if I can get a hold of one of the All Access deals. I've got at least a couple years of Game Pass stored up, so that is a no brainer for me. I'll probably pick up the digital PS5 once there are a couple of games that I have to have on it, and maybe if there is a price drop.
