2020 Presidential Election: Biden v. Trump

It’s not cool to wish death on someone. In this situation, we know his death would be a shitshow that throws the nation into chaos. He’d be viewed as a martyr and he would never be held accountable for his numerous crimes. So there’s plenty of reason to hope he lives.

Counterpoint: he’s directly responsible for the deaths of loads and loads of people and doesnt deserve a minute of mercy.

Also I shouldn’t post here bc of my contempt for libs and my lack of sleep BUT

imagine thinking trump rebounding would bring stability to this great nation

Imagine thinking that's what I said.

Trump dying isn't going to make things any better for anybody else.

It’s fine to wish for his death. We don’t know if there would even be instability. Maybe everyone would just finally sigh and it would all be over.

What is a better scenario for the US - Trump is president for another 4 years - or he passes away before the election?

The latter. But we can defeat living Trump.

Trump will never be held accountable. He’ll appeal and counter sue and buy time until he dies, so better sooner than later. His shithead kids along with Barr, Kushner and the other enablers is who I want on a fucking pike. I also want to see Mitch, Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham and all the other GOP collaborators (politically) die for their sins. Attach them to the corpse of Trump once all his bullshit is in the open and let’s ruin their fucking lives.

They are all sinners in the hands of an angry god

I don’t know why they bother with national polling at this point. I guess it’s for historical purposes.

We need polls in swing states and states with close senate races. That’s it.

Eh I mostly agree but they still provide directional insight on a countrywide level which is still valuable.

For example,

I see what you’re saying. But if the point is to examine demographics differences in political ideology and practices there are better questions to ask than Biden or Trump. For election purposes, swing states and close senate states are all that matter.

For what it’s worth, Nate silver says that Dems having > 6-8% lead in national polls leads to an EC victory.

I found out this week that the two members of my immediate family who voted Trump in 2016 are voting libertarian this time. I'm actually flabbergasted one of them is abandoning ship but that person is over 70 and has been quarantining since march. The last few weeks seems to have pushed her in that direction. Better late than never. Hopefully this same movement is being repeated in households across the country.
